I saw an advert on FB regarding this food stall's special on ribeye steak and dory steak for 249 baht (about $8 even in US). The pictures looked good, so I made a note to visit this place. A week later, my girl and I woke up late from a nap and decided that we would head down to this place. We got there to find that the dory was sold out, but I could still get the ribeye for 149 baht ($5). I ordered it medium rare, pointed out my table, and sat down to wait. The wait wasn't long. The steak arrived quite quick, accompanied by some shoe string fries and a salad of lettuce, tomato and onion. There was also a tiny little boat of gravy. The steak was actually quite rare, but it was also very thin, so this was not really a problem. There was also an irregular cut, causing the thickness to vary a bit throughout the steak, so this was a rather forgivable offense. Not really an offense at all. The steak was well seasoned. I think maybe it was actually marinated overnight. I saw no signs of seasoning on the surface of the steak. It was very tender around the edges, but as Thai beef goes, it got tougher in the middle and had a lot of gristle. I really have nothing to complain about for a $5 ribeye.
