I am vegan and cannot eat gluten. I showed the waitress my gluten allergy card written in Thai and she understood it. She seemed to understand when I said I was vegan. I was starving and ordered a massive salad (make your own bowl type of thing). I checked with each ingredient I added that they were gf and vegan. Waitress said everything was fine. She just said she wasn't sure about the hummus. Instead of coming back to tell me the hummus wasn't vegan (made with feta cheese!) and offer me to choose another dip, she brought me a massive plate with a beautiful salad, only to tell me the hummus had feta in it (it was in its own little bowl) and the mushrooms that were mixed with the rest had been fried in butter. I don't know where things went wrong, if it's a communication problem between restaurant staff and kitchen staff, as the waitress seemed to understand perfectly what I was saying. She even took notes from my allergy card. I appreciated that she was honest about what she was serving me, but at that point, I couldn't trust the kitchen staff to make me a safe dish and I decided to cancel my order. I just watched my husband eat, and it was highly frustrating. Shame, as I don't live far and was hoping to make it a regular place, but after this experience, I'm definitely not going back.
