The Food: A Seafood Lover's Paradise The main draw of Rim Rua is its incredible selection of fresh seafood. You'll find a wide variety of options, from juicy prawns and crabs to mussels and clams. What sets this buffet apart is the "all-you-can-eat" concept with no time limit, allowing you to indulge at your own pace. While the premium package offers larger, more prized seafood, the standard package still provides an impressive array, including sizeable prawns and other delectable items. Beyond the seafood, the buffet also features a diverse selection of meats, including pork, chicken, and beef, as well as fresh vegetables and an assortment of pre-cooked Thai and Chinese dishes. Popular items to look out for include the salt-grilled fish, grilled pork belly slices, and an array of Thai desserts and fresh fruits to round off your meal. Read moreRim Rua Kratha Ron is a mookata style, all-you-can-eat dining place, that's famous for its affordable prices and unlimited seafood. We arrived at the place around 6:30pm local time, and it was already full of hungry patrons.
The place features a huge dining area, with many tables that were designed to fit a group of 4. We were seated outdoors, which we preferred. Here, we could take raw seafood from the many counters and cook it ourselves, or order dished that came pre-cooked by the kitchen.
The crabs ordered from the kitchen were quite small in size. While the meat was sweet and tasty, the effort of having to crack the shell to extract the small bits of meat made us opt for other seafood.
The prawns looked impressive in size with their huge heads, but there wasn't actually much meat after deshelling. We mostly cooked them in soup. The meat was quite mushy, and the prawn meat often broke apart when we were peeling the shell off.
Scallops were something that we ate quite a bit of. We mostly cooked them over the grill. Tasted good with the dipping sauce. My gf liked the sea snails too.
Fish meat, clams and squid were ok as well. We cooked them in the soup too to retain their juiciness.
Overall, the food was acceptable, nothing to shout about, and in my opinion, it could do better with fresher seafood. My gf claimed that there's been a dip in quality since the last time she was here many years ago. If you're a seafood lover and a heavy eater, this is probably...
