The Proud Koh Yor — Restaurant in Songkhla Province

It's impossible to give anything less than top marks here. This is a fine, fine restaurant with one of the most impressive views in SE Asia. You get Singapore standard service, facilities and food overlooking, from a great height and at many angles, Songhkla Lake. It's exceptional and frankly a steal when compared to my local Thai takeaway in the UK which is actually more expensive! Yes the climb up the hill is steep without a motor car but I think they will collect you from the bottom if you have serious issues getting up. When I left I was taken to the bottom (without requesting this) to meet my lift, a motorcycle with sidecar that couldn't make the slope! Vegetarians are pretty underserved if I'm honest. There's no veg section and I had Green Curry with tofu on both of my visits. It was the best I've had in Thailand, the tofu was delicious and I had a Mark Wiens moment, pulling the kind of faces only Mrs Wiens should be privy to! The dessert was amazing too, mouth watering mocha with ice cream and fruit, so splendidly presented. Again, not vegan as I subsequently learnt. I should have had mixed fruit. I am obviously (as a veggie type) NOT their target customer so that's why I maintain a 5/5 score. But maybe something for them to consider going forward? The view of the Songkhla lake is magnificent. The building is impressive with its elevator. The bar and the restaurant are very beautiful, very bright and spacious. We did not test the restaurant but just ordered drinks at the bar, to get an idea. The balance sheet is mixed. Is there a pilot in the plane ? Except in the parking lot and the elevator, the staff looks disillusioned and without motivation. The prices are worthy of European prices. 200 thb for a glass of lemon water with ice cubes renamed "Italian Soda" !!! There we are no longer in Thailand. Very disappointed... I won't come back and i won't recommend this place to my friends. If the boss needs help, i will suggest him 2...
