Pa Ya Hoi Sod (Pa Ya Fresh Shellfish) — Restaurant in Surat Thani Province

Been here several years ago, used to offer some really great value oysters with quality that make you question whether getting out of town for oysters is smart at all.

Now though, they are a lot more expensive and the oysters from that night was honestly a disappointment. Bland and tasteless (though still fresh and offers good texture.) Know from a friend this is perhaps not a great season for oyster or any shellfishes in particular because heavy rain water is lowering the sodium content of the shore - but that is not the explanation the owner gave.

All I can say is that their quality is unreliable for now, and I can't wholeheartedly recommend them overall but you may have better luck if you made a visit during a drier season.

But if judging from this experience alone, disappointed is...

Went here for lunch. Free parking and lots of it. You must order at the front on the same side as the main road. There’s two restaurants, one on the right does the fresh seafood orders and you’ll have a selection of shell fish etc. oysters served individually and highly recommended them, they come with fried shallots and nam chim which was delicious. There’s also these massive prawn things idk what they were but damn they good. Can also get clams and mussels by half kilo or kilo. Restaurant on right does Thai style dishes like garlic morning glory etc. after ordering you’ll take a seat either in main spot where you order or there’s another section our the back that’s along the water.

Fresh oysters 😋 but the 60B each is more than we pay in Australia... we only pay 40B for the the same size and honestly much better flavour...?

Salted BBQ fish 190B is good taste and fair priced 👍 Grilled pork salad was small and not very tasty 120B.. No somtam available because they had no tomatoes 😕 Tesco lotus is across the street so I don't understand why no tomatoes available for somtam... 😞 disappointing...

Nice location to sit near a fish pond.

Not busy at 1pm.

Satisfied but won't return.

In a pinch I can recommend this restaurant but imagine there's better choices nearby. I will try the other options...
