This place is a gem. Was there with a party of 4 on 13 September for dinner. When given the address, the taxi driver wasn’t sure of the location but of course we had google map’s help. It didn’t help the driver when the final stretch of road to the restaurant was in pitch darkness!! Nevertheless we made it and it was very well worth the effort. We had a fantastic meal at very reasonable price. The prawns are their specialty as the farm belongs to the owner. I understand the owner also owns a durian plantation but unfortunately we went there on off season. Back to the food. Don’t forget their fried papaya salad . Yes, fried! The ladies in my party went crazy over it. It’s the only place so far where they fried the papaya. A must when ordering your food. The food and service was so good we returned for an encore on the 18th before leaving Samui. The rest of the menu also looked amazing, but honestly… after those prawns, it was hard to think about anything else!
The service was friendly and professional, with just the right balance between being attentive and giving you space to enjoy your evening. I had a great time and will definitely be coming back. If you’re looking for a place to enjoy great seafood in a relaxed setting, Tara Bistro should be high on your list.
And a little tip: order the prawns. Trust me – your future self...

The chicken was very dry, but the sauce was nicely flavored. The Cascade prawn appetizer was nothing special. The mango in the mango sticky was not fresh, though the coconut ice cream it came with was great.
I am not sure if they have changed chefs recently, hence the significant drop in quality. The service staff was nice, although many didn't speak good English and was hard to understand.
They also give a free fruit plate for customers who leave an online review, not sure if this arbitrarily inflated...
