VANILLA Cafe&bistro — Restaurant in Surat Thani Province

Place very well presented and good menu choice. Unfortunately on our visit here on 11/4/23 the service was very poor. Ordered starters and mains. 1 starters came then 2 mins later 2 mains were brought out and had to send back and ask for other starters. These were taken back and other 2 starters brought. Waited about 20 mins for mains to be brought back and same plates of food were served everything cold. I ordered fries and got mash potatoes. Food tasted nice was just cold. No starters plates cleared. Had to ask for dessert menu and they took about 30 mins dispite the fact all desserts we chose were ready in fridge. We also had to ask twice for starter and mains plates to be cleared and ended up moving them ourselves to an empty table. Coffee machine was presumably broken no no coffee. There was a total number 6 customers so they weren't even busy. The service really let this visit down. Would give another go as food was well presented and well cooked. We were driving from Phuket to Bangkok and needed a place to stop to have a good meal. We looked at restaurants in Suratthani and many looked pretty good! I FB message Vanilla and asked for a menu. They messaged me back with a menu pretty quickly. We messaged them our order and told them the time we’d be there. We had our food within 15 minutes of being seated. Their roti is amazing! Calamari was also good. We enjoyed main course of grilled snapper and pan-fried salmon. It was so nice to have a solid meal during a 13 hour drive! We’d definitely stop here again! Best Roti! The Thai tea Roti dessert is a must eat here. Fluffy chewy and soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. Not too sweet and served with vanilla ice cream. Food is good as well! Price is moderate for Bangkokians but is considered a little on the expensive side locally. I had to come back for the Roti on my way back to Bangkok!
