If I could give no stars for this place I would. Its a such a shame that a place on such a beautiful island has such a horrible atmosphere. They ruined the chill vibe by playing loud music. Then the worst was when I went to sit with my husband in the booth that had pillows we immediately got yelled before sitting down by one of the waiters that "you can't sit there because youre wet from swimming" when this place is literally on the beach! Then he immediately walked away without talking to us further or showing us somewhere else to sit. I was confused and said to anothet waitress who come up to us after that I didn't want to sit further in because it was so loud from the music and asked if I could change into dryer clothes. She said we could sit if we changed and she moved the pillows. We changed into dryer clothes and sat down. We were about to order when the owner (I think he was the owner or manager he was the only western person who worked there) came over and instead of asking if we were OK immediately said "you're not wet?" We said we had changed and he said well these pillow can't get wet. My husband decided to tell him that we were feeling very upset after being spoken to so rudely by the first male waiter and that it would've been nice to be asked if we could change into dry clothes and see what would be possible rather than tell us off before we had even sat down. The owner didn't seem to care and just said the pillows shouldn't get wet. The waiter got defensive and said he didn't tell us off. I understand language barriers can be a thing I've lived abroad but you can speak to people calmly despite the language barrier and check if they're OK. I was more upset with the owner for not even checking if we were OK at the end of the day we wanted to spend money there and order food. After the owner just kept making excuses and not considering our feelings I broke down into tears and just left because I didn't feel comfortable or welcome there.
We walked further down the beach and ate somewhere else my advice spend your money somewhere where they care about you as a person more than their pillows. My advice to the owner buy pillows for a restaurant that you don't mind getting wet if you want a restaurant on the beach where most of your customers are people spending time on the beach... oh and maybe be nice to your customers. I will say thank you to the nice female waiter who...
Read moreBizarre visit. here. We were given a menu with loads of options and not given any further advice beyond that. After finally deciding what to order, and trying to do so, we were told that practically everything we had chosen was unavailable. So what do you have? Spaghetti, bread and pizza, but only two pizzas left. Not even a green salad. So why not print up a one-page sheet of paper that lists the items available? This would avoid a good deal of aggravation and disappointment.
There were a few bottles of red wine available, but they were not refrigerated, and the restaurant had no ice available to chill the wine. We asked why they had so little, and the waiter said it was because that would be their last evening open, and then they would close for the season. OK, fair enough, I guess, although it didn’t explain why they didn’t have any ice. But the next evening they were open again. On our way to a much better and well-stocked restaurant next door, I walked up and asked the same waiter what happened. He just said “we open again, and we have pizza again.” How about ice? Still not.
To be fair, the food we did have (two pizzas, two spaghettis and bruschetta) was excellent, but the experience was extremely disappointing. The Reef Resort next door, also Italian-run, has a much better selection of both pastas and Thai food, plus ice and...
Read moreFive stars for the excellent food but unfortunately 1 star for service. So giving this 3/5. One of the things that really annoys me is making an advance booking and still being given a bad table. I felt really disrespected and a bit discriminated against actually. Was it because I was their only non-European customer? We turned up and they did not have a table for us. There were several other tables set for other people who had booked, but not for us. We got one of the worst tables in the place, Despite being the third to book (yes I saw them write down my name-the Italian manger had mis-spelled it, made it a funny Italian joke. I probably should have taken that as a sign!). Perhaps it was an “unconscious bias” oversight thing…
Anyway- it left me with an unpleasant aftertaste. Despite the good quality...
