Chao Lay Seafood Restaurant is my go-to spot, and I finally figured it was high time to shout it from the rooftops especially about Noy, the absolute superhero of service!
Picture this: I'm there enjoying some epic seafood, and suddenly I see Noy dashing from table to table like she’s on a mission from the seafood gods. She's not just fast; she's a one-woman happiness brigade. Need your soup re-heated? She's on it. Got a grumpy patron? Consider it handled she swoops in, drops a witty comment, and suddenly everyone's smiling again.
And let’s talk about her charm. Not only does she speak English fluently, but she also speaks the universal language of "making your day awesome." I overheard more than one diner gushing about her, and honestly, I’m thinking, “Who needs a spa day when you’ve got Noy working her magic?”
The cherry on top? When I tried to shower her with a big tip at the end of my last visit, she said, "I don't need the tip, I just want to take care of everyone and make everyone happy." I mean, come on if that's not the secret recipe to customer service, I don't know what is!
To the owners at Chao Lay Seafood Restaurant: please give this wonder woman a big raise (or at least a lifetime supply of your best seafood). Thanks to Noy, every meal here is not just food for the body, but a feast for the soul. Highly...
Read moreIf you’re looking for truly refined seafood on Koh Chang, Chao Lay Seafood is the place to go. Every dish here is crafted with remarkable taste and elegance, offering flavors on par with a fine dining restaurant rather than a casual seaside spot.
The chef clearly has professional experience—each plate showcases attention to detail, balance of flavors, and creative presentation. The food isn’t just delicious; it’s art on a plate, with the chef highlighting the natural sweetness and freshness of the seafood through skillful seasoning and sauces that enhance, not overpower, the ingredients.
What impressed me most is how each dish carries a unique character—the lobster, for example, was perfectly cooked, rich with flavor, and beautifully garnished. It’s rare to find a place where both taste and presentation meet such a high standard.
After trying many seafood restaurants on Koh Chang, I can honestly say most rely on the freshness of ingredients but lack the touch of a skilled chef. Chao Lay Seafood stands apart for elevating local ingredients into gourmet-level creations.
Worth every baht. You won’t regret dining here. It’s the kind of meal that makes you appreciate both the ocean’s bounty and the...
Read moreOverpriced for the quality of food and service provided here. We decided to go there due to the high rating and how famous this place is. We got there around 3.30pm on the weekdays and there were only two groups of customer, us (two people) and another table of two. Yet it took forever for our food to arrive and they weren't good. The shrimps aren't fresh which is the huge disappointment. We had to cancel some of the orders since it took too long and they didn't even have the ingredients to cook. We heard them talking loudly about having to make a trip to the market to buy stuffs they needed to cook our food and, when asked, the waitress confirmed its true. They also didnt have several items on the menu that we wanted. It looks like their glory time has long passed. I would not recommend this place to anyone especially considering how much effort you'd have to make to come eat here (the distance, the parking that cost 60 baht for 3 hours if you managed to find a spot) Last but not least, even at 3pm we were attacked by mosquitoes under the tables. Bad...
