There are many places on Koh Kood, where you can have good food, but Pizza & Pasta has become very dear to our heart during our two month stay on this lovely island.
The owners and the whole staff is super friendly and sweet, so that it always felt like dining in with family.
On top of that, the food is extraordinary great. It is the best Italian food you will have, not only on the island, but on the world. I can't remember having had better pizza or pasta and I had quite a lot in my life. Everything is hand made, pizza dough, pasta, bread, deserts; no matter what we ordered from the menu, it tasted like we were in Italien heaven. Our favorites definitely was pasta with truffle sauce, but even seemingly simple dishes like spaghetti bolognese or bruschetta are outstanding. Never had better Italien food, not even during my stays in Italy.
There might be places to eat on the island where the food is cheaper, but be rest assured that all dishes are still too cheap at this place for what you will get.
Alex, the Italian owner, once told us, that he puts secret ingredients into the the dishes, he knows from his mom and won't tell anybody and these secrets must be the reason everything tastes so good. He didn't tell us his mom's secret, but I'm very sure I know it and I'm going to reveal it to...
Read moreHi there,
we craved western food and ended up in the pizza&pasta for a pizza and some homemade bread.
Both the bread and the pizza were okay, but not exceptionally good to our taste.
To be fair, our expectations might be quite high as we are Europeans with lot's of great pizza experiences both in Italy and other places. So we will just describe what was missing to our opinion:
The homemade bread had a nice fluffy crumb, but the crust was very very soft in a negative way. We guess that it is bread which is usually roasted before serving? If not, I think roasting it would help a lot. Otherwise, the crust must be more crispy. Tastewise, the dough lacked a bit of salt as well as acidity from yeast fermentation. Maybe more yeast or a longer fermentation time could help.
Same issue with the pizza dough. It lacked a bit of salt and fermentation. The crust on the outside reminded me a bit of crackers. From our own experience with pizza making, this is indeed a result of too less salt and too less fermentation.
One of the cheeses on the quattro formaggi pizza tasted like a cheap quality. I guess the mozzarella is of better quality and should be concentrated on.
Anyway, the food was...
Read moreBeen coming here for about 10 years by now I think. Always reliably good. Our last visit was last week. Compared to the previous visit, this one was better, as the place was not overcrowded (more seating now) and they were not out of anything listed in the menu. The things we particularly like are the pizzas, of course, the 4-cheese sauce for the pizzas, and the carafes of wine for B750. The main thing we did not like is the Bruschetta. It's nothing more than 4 slices of very non-special (and slightly burnt) bread topped with crudely chopped tomatoes for a whopping B250. Also missing are two of our favorite staples - Gnocchi and Charcuterie boards. But overall we continue to enjoy the spot every time we visit the island. It would also be a big convenience to accept credit cards, as a lot of places do on the island now. Carrying cash is not convenient for tourists. We would be happy to pay the extra surcharge...
