I have visited this place 3 times yet I've only eaten once, the Chinese food is really good and so are the drinks.. the service however is unbelievably horrible. In 2016 we walked out after waiting for 15 minutes for someone to come over, as they chatted and talked to each other. On my second visit my friends friend was working and ensured great service! This time the place was busy, so we sat at a table that needed to be wiped and prepared to wait because it's Saturday night at Castro's. After 15 minutes of watching a few server's not be swamped, my friend goes over and says something to someone at the counter they said ok, we wait almost 10 more minutes for a waitress to come over and say..." the server assigned to your table is busy, if he still is after a few more minutes I'll come help", confused I asked for one of the menus she was holding and she said, "this isn't my area and didn't give me the menu and walked away." I truly am confused as to why I couldn't have a menu to pick out our drinks while we waited, it took longer to give us an explanation than it would have to wipe the table and drop menus. At that moment we decided to leave because we're not gonna beg to give someone our money, no matter how good the food is. I usually look at reviews this detailed and think the person is exaggerating but it has now happened to me. Castro's please do some proper customer service training, had someone just wiped the table and dropped off a menu.. I'd have eaten, server would have been tipped, you would have had a return customer.. I cannot be the only person that has had...
Read moreMy experience at castro's was truly amazing. The ambiance from the time you walk in was everything. Love the location very central. Parking was right across the street that's very convenient. Being a frequent traveler what caught my attention was the live kitchen. Me and my girlfriend had noodles, vegetable & shrimp spring roll, sauteed fish with chicken fried rice & Ceasar salad. The portion sizes, quality of food was perfect 🥰. Staff was very friendly & Courteous. I would definitely say it's Arima best Chinese take out/ dine in restaurants. The staff was on time with everything they didn't miss a beat. I also had a 🍓 Mojito which had the right amount of liquor & ingredients. The bar was well stock. If you are into sport its the right place to dine and watch a game at the same time. A few flat screen tv to watch your game on . I travel every 4 to 6 months to many other countries. This was my first time ever seeing the buzzer that was on each table to call your waitress for anything needed. Brilliant idea of the owner. In most restaurants you have to wave or call your waitress verbally to get their attention. I can truly recommend castro's restaurant to any local or foreigners who plan on visiting Trinidad 🇹🇹...
Read moreI think it lives up to its title of sports bar more than restaurant. Not a bad place to had out, get some drinks and eats while taking in a game; really feels like a fun spot. Food seems tasty enough although the ribs I had were a bit burnt at the bottom; forgivable judging from the amount of orders that they had. Service was great. There were no wait times between appetizers and main course. Waiters were great and floor manager was great; very attentive as to what was happening even with a full house. Reason for may ratings, space is really cramped. If there is a full house be sure you will be bobbing and weaving to get where you want to go. There is not dedicated parking, you either park on the streets or take a chance with the supermarket parking lot. At the time I was there, they were turning people away from the parking lot although there was space. Being on a main corner like that there should be at least some direction or information about the parking situation if you don't have park. All in all, a decent place for a lime once you take into consideration the parking and avoid prime times as you will find yourself shouting to the...
