Disappointing Experience at Sails Restaurant on March 24th. I am writing to express my profound disappointment regarding my recent dining experience at Sails on March 24th, which, as Gordon Ramsay would describe, could be likened to a "Kitchen Nightmare." This visit was intended to be a late birthday celebration, and I made a reservation during your Monday Madness with a specific menu in mind, as well as the option to order from the full menu. I made the reservation by phone around midday, but unfortunately, one of the two listed numbers was not functioning, and I had to call the other number twice before successfully reaching someone. I requested a seat on the outside deck to enjoy the sunset, as we intended to return home early. The receptionist informed me that the deck would not be available until 5:30 PM, so we adjusted our reservation to 6:00 PM, hoping to catch at least a glimpse of the sunset. Upon arriving at the restaurant on time, we were informed that the deck was still not ready for seating, as the staff was still organizing. We were asked to wait for approximately 10 minutes, which meant that by the time we were seated, the sunset had already passed. To add to my frustration, the initial greeting we received gave the impression that the staff did not value or acknowledge the arrival of customers. After being seated, our waitress attended to us in a timely manner, and we placed our orders. However, within no more than 5-8 minutes, both our drinks and food arrived. This was particularly surprising as we were still settling in, enjoying the views, and the restaurant's lights and decorations had not yet been turned on, as it was still bright outside. I had ordered the "Ribtastic" dish, and my wife opted for grilled chicken with potatoes. Unfortunately, my ribs were served cold to the touch, as if they had been prepared hours earlier and left to sit aside. While the shrimp and fries were hot, they lacked any seasoning, salt, or flavor, making them extremely bland. I attempted to eat the ribs, but they were unpalatable. My wife's grilled chicken was equally disappointing—dry, tough, and difficult to cut, as it appeared to be overcooked and dehydrated. As more guests arrived, we attempted to get the attention of a staff member, as the initial waitress who served us had disappeared. A few minutes later, a different waitress approached and inquired whether everything was fine. I expressed that my food was cold and that I had barely eaten any ribs. She took the plate and returned it to the kitchen. However, after an extended wait, which was longer than it took to initially receive the food, the first waitress returned with a new plate, which I was dismayed to discover had been microwaved. The shrimp had become soggy, the fries were hard and dry, and the ribs were hot yet tough and unappetizing. At that point, I had lost my appetite entirely, and we requested the bill. Around 7:00 PM, the lights were finally turned on, and someone brought a candle decoration to the table, but by that time, we were already preparing to leave. Additionally, I must mention that we are not particularly fond of live music, and moments before 7:00 PM, a performer began checking the sound system and then started performing loudly. Unfortunately, the performance was not to our taste, and it was disruptive to our dining experience. Had we known that live music was part of the evening, we would have reconsidered our choice of venue. To be candid, I will never return to Sails again. The restaurant’s performance since reopening has been consistently disappointing, and on this occasion, my money felt as though it held no value. The staff’s demeanor on the night was unprofessional and unpleasant, further adding to the overall dissatisfaction. Lastly, when I made the reservation, I mentioned that we were celebrating a birthday, yet there was no acknowledgment of the occasion—no greeting or even a birthday dessert was offered. I trust you will take this feedback seriously, as it reflects the subpar experience we had.

This is one of the few places in trinidad that actually live up to thier food. Everything on thier menu is 100% tasty and worth every bite. I'm assuming the chef is from abroad. The burgers are cooked so perfectly pink and rare in the center and full of juice. Seared perfectly on each side. If they can master a simple burger to international top restuarants, you'll know everything on the menu is put with that same effort. The staff are slightly slow as they are usually crowded. This is the temp location as they are doing renovations. Otherwise the temp is still beautiful, right on the water dining. Fish come up to you, boats dock and its simply cozy and just right. Parking is easy although crowded as mentioned. Its literally built on top the water. Definitely worth the prices and worth the wait. Only food in TT i ever found to be GOOD. Beats buzo and prime by far because they know how to execute these dishes.

Visited here on a Saturday night around 8ish. The wait staff was very accommodating since we missed our reservation. We were able to get outside seats as soon as one becomes available. There was live music playing and the atmosphere was very nice. However, things took a bit of a turn when we got our food. I ordered the seafood chowder, and it was one of the best I've ever had. My partner ordered the callaloo soup, and it was just okay. I then got the seafood trio with some sides, and that too was just okay, a bit oily for my liking. The overall experience was nothing to blow off our socks. My partner got lamb, and he did not enjoy it at all. It was chewy and just too fatty. We had to send it back, but the kitchen was closed, so we couldn't get it adjusted. I must compliment the chef for coming out and trying to rectify the situation with us. The customer service experience was elevated with that interaction.

I went there last night (I didn't know there was a new location but we just followed Google maps ). I was really saddened that the laid-back, rustic island-vibe that the original location had was now rebranded as a fancy cocktail bar/restaurant. I was there with an American family member who had never been to Trinidad and Sails was actually the first place I had in mind to take them as the original Sails was filled with such warmth and Caribbean charm - the original location which was damaged by the earthquake was unique and the fact one could have ate their meal seated outside under the stars and near the water was beautiful and relaxing. But alas, it is now a trendy, more posh-looking cocktail-type set up. Very generic. I urge the owners to re-think their branding as they have now become another Zanzibar/ Crew's Inn type set up.

Another major thing was the quality of service. Please Sails management, get rid of your ghetto local staff who think being nice to customers is a crime and rehire ( maybe Venezuelans or something as they work hard and at least appear friendly, eager to work and civil in most establishments they are in ). This isn't the first time I have had this unpleasant experience at Sails as I have had a waitress with the most unpleasant and sour attitude. If you hate your job don't come to work, there are people who'd appreciate your position more than you.

Last night I literally ran from Sails with my American family member as we were shouted at by a cook. It was very dark to the back of the restaurant (which is near the entrance as you drive in) and I turned my cell's camera light on to see where I was going. What I assume was the restaurant's kitchen was open nearby and she flew out screaming that we were shining a light in her eye...needless to say we weren't going to eat there anymore. We took the drive to Chaguanas and decided to have class Indian food at Palki's, where I was treated like a queen and the food and presentation was fit for Mughal royalty.

We were really disappointed as we wanted to eat at Sails but were run out by the staff. Please Sails, consider a rehauling of your staff.

It hurts me to have a review so lovely rated but I was hurt and saddened by our experience yesterday. I had to explain to my family member 'service sucks in Trinidad' but I know through making the management aware of issues in service we can improve our image.

PS - I have just read the notice in which it was mentioned that the current location at The Lure is temporary; I am excited to hear that. My suggestion to the owners is please, in the reconsideration of your future restaurant's décor, please keep it rustic / informal! That is your...

This was one of the worst experience I've ever had in all of my twenty two years of life. The male receptionist was so grumpy and rude. He spoke to us in such a passive aggressive manner I thought he paid for the reservation and the meals. We managed to keep our composure and talked with him to get our seating arrangements sorted as I understand that we had 1 extra person on arrival that was not mentioned in our reservation. Based on previous experiences with other establishments that were cheaper and even those that were more expensive I've never seen this issue to cause that much disturbance. Moving along we managed to get the seating somewhat organized and we were told to wait in the bar area where the service picked up to around 2 stars as the personnel in this facility were alot more friendly and caring. Upon having our seating arrangements fixed we were told to have a seat and someone will come and attend to us. When we sat down there were at most 6 extra customers in the area. Four of those customers were about to leave and the other couple stayed. We say for roughly 7 minutes with no one attended to us, no menu's brought or even a small introduction to our waitress. At the 7 minute mark a random passing waitress stopped by and enquired if we were okay. At this point I asked for a menu as I was trying to not ruin the little remaining good mood my family had after driving over an hour to get to this establishment. She proceeded to bring only 1 menu only then to realize we had no one attending to us. She then brought 3 other menus and allowed us to order. Another key note I shalt point out roughly 4 other families came after us, all of which were guided to their seats and met with a menu awaiting. We placed our orders and began another waiting game. We however got our food last after everyone who came minutes after us. Which wasn't nice, also we got our meals plate by plate. Another key note that I should say is that none of the foods/ dishes provided were hot compared to meals provided for other customers ( visible steam on the meal on the plate ) . Finally my last complaint will be is that, I ordered the 1/4 chicken in bbq howerer I received a 1/4 chicken in herb roast. To make matters even worse is the fact that the food was reheated and the chicken was actually cold to the touch.

Overall my experience was terrible and I will not recommend this business to anyone unless...
