Jaxx International Grill — Restaurant in Trinidad

Went there for the first time to meet some friends. They arrived before me (5 of them) and got a seat. When I arrived I told the lady at the front that I was there to meet 5 other persons who were already here I just did not know where they were seated. She told me I had to call them because she does not know. I found this hard to believe because the restaurant only had about 4 other persons at the time. I contacted my friends who told me where they were sitting and I found their table. When they arrived they brought a small cake as they attended an event earlier and had remaining. They asked if they could bring the cake into the restaurant and were told yes it is fine, no additional costs would have to be paid. Our waitress finally came to take our order (drinks). One of my friends ordered two of the same drinks but she wanted them in different ways (frozen and shaken). The waitress commented and said 'the bartender will cuss' and 'by doing that you are wasting alcohol'. My friend responded that it's her money and that's the way she wants her drinks. Eventually, we received a new waitress because the other one left work. We were then told that there will be a cake charge to our bill because we brought outside food (cake) into the restaurant. Again, we had to inform our new waitress that we were given permission to do so on our arrival. She then had to go speak to a manager about it. It was our first time there ,.my girl friends and I. We asked for separate bills and the waitress said no, we were supposed to ask at the beginning as if we aware.of their policy and it was not made aware to us by the waitress. We waited more than 40 minutes for simple food: mushroom, mashed potato. We asked for the bill and we didn't get through until 30 mins later and my friend needed to leave. We waited a further 1hr to have our table cleared as we wanted a pic. The table remained with all the empty dishes and no one came to remove them after we paid the bill. Btw, when it's time to pay, the waitress returned in 3.mins or less and asked if we organize our payment , knowing she left us to separate the payments for ourselves. At WOODFORD CAFE, HEARTLAND PLAZA (a highly recommended place to go where you are treated as you should ) at the end of our meals, we asked for separate bills and it was so easy to organized. We put up $100 tip for her because she did her job well!

Overall the service at JAXX was distasteful and depressing for all the money we were charged !!!! I will never return , neither will my friends. I would like to thank the manager who was graceful and very pleasant ! The staff needs to be...

Passed there in the evening. The initial entry and greeting was good. Everything afterwards was a poor experience...trying to find a table on our own (we indicated that we would want to sit on the left side closer to the bar and the person that greeted us said ok.. look to see where you want to sit). While selecting a seat at least three of the available tables were observed to be dirty(two had some type of stains on the tables, one had a bill from a previous customer on it). Having selected a table the bartender (he was eating a meal in full view of everyone behind the bar) came to take the order. Drinks were ordered- these were delivered timely and were ok. Food was subsequently ordered and there was a long wait for this to arrive. We did not specifically time the arrival (because we were having an intense conversation), however we estimate that there was at least a 30min period between ordering and the arrival. While it may be possible that the kitchen was busy, the food arrived cold. The best meal on the platter was the fries and the shrimp that were slightly warm. Overall I would not want to visit there again for any meal......probably just drinks (if other locations are...
