We had lots of fun though and a great time.

Verdict: 85 TND in cash per person for a very simple lunch, one fish (or a piece of chicken), salad, endless bread, and some fruit, is a rip-off. But given the disastrous state of Tunisia’s public beaches (most are now dangerously polluted), these spots are becoming the only options.

Details: The 4.8 ⭐ rating is misleading. Owners pressure guests (via the servers) to leave 5-star reviews, and servers, mostly young people just trying to make money in summer, are forced to beg for them. They will even write the review for you. Of course I said NO. The food was tasty but worth no more than 20-25 TND, and not filling. Photos online are deceptive; you won’t get what you see. The place is extremely disorganized and overcrowded, with random swings, toys, and hammocks cluttering the space. When we visited, about 300 people were there, yet only 2 showers and 2 toilets for each gender. The toilet area reeked, it really smelled horrible. The beach smelled unpleasant, and while the sand was fairly clean, it was crammed with cabins, swings, hammocks, and toys packed tightly together. Cabins were nicely furnished, and the “VIP” cabins with a private tiny pool (85 TND per person) or the ones with a shared pool (70 TND) weren’t worth the price, except for a bit of privacy. Ironically, DAVINO is probably still the best in the area, the competition is even more run-down and overpriced. Only two boats to shuttle people around with Zero safety These beaches are supposed to be public property (I swam there many summers in the 80ies up to the early 90ies), yet somehow this group of supposedly investors (actually money sharks) has taken them over (how!?!?) and charge exorbitant fees. To be fair though, they do offer a service, but only because the general state of Tunisian public beaches is so poor. To make matters worse, they only accept cash. Picture this: they expect guests to show up at the beach carrying hundreds of dinars in cash… ridiculous. When we paid, the guy already had this huge box or bag stuffed with thousands of dinars. It’s hard not to suspect that this all-cash setup pays no taxes, and you can imagine what that implies.

God help the Tunisians… حرام what’s happening.

Had an amazing experience here. The beaches are only accessible via speed boats from the mainland, therefore has to be booked in advance. Summer is of course busy and advance bookings are highly recommended. Davino is mainly a family beach frequented by local Tunisians, hence no alcohol is served. It's a great place for children. The water is not deep at all and very safe for swimming. The food comes with the booking and included starter, main and fruits later. You can hire shisha and order drinks as extras. The cottages are beautiful and aesthetics are amazing. The water can sometimes be polluted with used nappies chucked in and we had to request for our hut to be cleaned. They might want to turn down the...
