Great sushi, awful service — every single time.
We’ve been coming here regularly, and to be fair, the food is excellent. The sushi is fresh, well-prepared, and absolutely deserves praise. The staff, when they actually engage with you, are polite and friendly — credit where credit is due. But the service? Easily among the worst we’ve ever experienced — and somehow, it's consistently bad.
Every visit involves ridiculously long wait times. Whether it's waiting for a menu, waiting to place an order, or waiting for the food itself, the experience is always slow and frustrating. There’s also about a 50/50 chance our order is either wrong or missing something entirely.
Today was by far the worst. There were no tables available inside, so we sat outside in the heat and asked the staff to let us know if one opened up. Two groups who arrived after us were seated inside — no one said a word to us. We waited 15 minutes just to get a menu, and then sat another 30 minutes without a single waiter acknowledging us. Eventually, we just left — and not one staff member even cared.
If you're only after great sushi and have endless patience (or enjoy being completely ignored), this place might still be worth it. Otherwise, consider ordering takeout — or better yet, try somewhere that respects...

We started with fried shrimp, which was cooked to perfection – crispy on the outside while remaining tender and juicy on the inside. Both the ramen bowl and chirashi were absolutely delicious – rich in flavor and made with fresh ingredients. The attention to detail in every dish was evident.
Overall, we highly recommend Hayashusi for anyone craving authentic and tasty Japanese cuisine in Sousse. It's a small gem that offers great quality food and a warm,...
Read moreExtremely cozy and inviting little restaurant, with a very friendly staff and a down to earth- but still luxurious- vibe. The music, which contributes to a very laid back atmosphere, is great and the food is fantastic as well. You can watch the sushi chefs carefully hand craft every single item and you even get an entrée for free. The items are of highest quality and the prices are fair. Would totally recommend coming here if you are in Sousse and searching for a tidy and cozy sushi spot (the bowls are the highlight of the...
