Honest review: Great food and peaceful seaside setting, but pricing lacked transparency

We visited Fahri’nin Yeri in Alaçatı as a family of four — two adults and two children — after hearing positive things about its seafood and setting. The location is undeniably beautiful, right on the seafront, with a calm and relaxing atmosphere. The food was flavorful and well-prepared, and the staff was friendly and attentive. We particularly enjoyed the grilled fish and cold mezze options.

However, the experience took a disappointing turn at the end. There was no menu provided, and we were asked to select dishes directly from the counter without any information about prices. While this may feel “traditional” to some, it creates confusion for visitors unfamiliar with local pricing.

The biggest surprise came with the final bill of 10,670 TL (around €240). For a light lunch for two adults and two small children, this was unexpectedly expensive. What added to the frustration was a separate 970 TL service charge, which was never mentioned before or during the meal.

A complete SCAM. There’s no menu — you have to choose your fish from the display, and the price depends on the weight, which apparently depends on the person weighing it… They open bottles you didn’t order, and surprise service charges are added to the bill. I’ve traveled a lot and have rarely seen such a scam! On top of that, they “isolated” us even though the terraces were packed — but still had some seats by the marina. The fish was decent but nothing special, the cuttlefish skewers were tasteless, yet the price (12€ for a tiny skewer) was unforgettable!!! Fries arrived lukewarm, and the cod donut was unimpressive… I absolutely do not recommend this place. The waiters are “friendly,” but that’s just part of the act they use to draw you in. An average tavern in the port of Alacati. First of all they have no menu so you do not get to have an idea of what you eat and about the prices. The place is questionable about everything starting from the cleaning and ending with the waiters: nobody speaks English to explain you something about the dishes from the display. So you have to take a guess and pick some dishes and if you are lucky you might enjoy them. Prices are simply exorbitant.
