This place was cozy and had a cute decor. I really enjoyed the ambiance. I feel this is a nice restaurant to take your parents for dinner. Our waiter was so lovely, and he kept bringing free things to try. Our fish was cooked very well.
I didn’t try any warm appetizers. My salad was fresh, and it had good flavor, but overall the salad was kind of bland.
One thing I found funny was that the waiter told us he’d brought a lobster pasta to try, and it had no lobster, but imitation crab meat in it. Maybe we had a language mixup and the waiter meant crab, but that’s neither here nor there, because: NO respectable seafood place in the USA is using imitation crab.☺️
They didn’t seem to have many sides. I asked for mashed potatoes, and they didn’t have that.
We got sea bass and it needed salt (as is the case for many dishes I find in Turkey), but the fish itself was REALLY GOOD. It was cooked so well.
Dessert: I was ambivalent about the sherbet that comes in the lemon. It had a nice, mild flavor, but it wasn’t very creamy. It was super icy and almost hard to eat, because it broke up so much, some flew on my dress when I tried to scoop it 🤣
There was a VERY nice semolina dessert. Mild flavor, warm, it had ice cream. There was another dessert with caramel. That was ok.
Our wine was great. The restaurant seems to have a good selection, and it’s reasonably priced.🤩
They close at 12, but at 11:40 I felt we couldn’t stay to finish the last of my wine, which was a bit awkward because of how much the waiters packed everything up.
Overall, I’d be back. I really liked this place. Next time, I will try more things on the menu. The friend we went with just picked everything, so I never even...
Read moreEleos is truly one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in istanbul so far. They serve a limited selection of fish, but that’s because they are so specialized in what they do and the quality speaks for itself.
We had the grilled sea bass, and it was honestly the best seabass we had. Perfectly prepared, seasoned just enough to highlight the incredible freshness of the fish. The calamari were outstanding, juicy on the inside with a perfect light fry, absolutely bursting with flavor. Their seasonal salad was crisp and fresh, and the desserts were equally excellent.
A special thanks to our waiter, Rasim, who was absolutely fantastic. His warm welcome, excellent recommendations, generosity and professional service elevated the whole experience he made us feel truly taken care of.
I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. A very well...
Read moreThis restaurant rips off westerners by overcharging. I’ve been here before and didn’t have a problem previously so I foolishly trusted them and brought a colleague here a couple of nights ago. They demanded 790 Turkish Lira for a simple meal and two glasses of local wine each. There is no menu with prices so they can make up any imaginary bill for you at the end of your meal, and they are dishonest. They will tell you that your fish was the most expensive fish in the world or that it is not in season so it costs an astronomical amount of money. That’s exactly what they did with us, saying that a ‘Levrek’ cost 300 Turkish Lira. I eat fish all over the world and so I understand what a normal cost is. This was not acceptable. This disgraceful attempt to extort money from foreign nationals should result in prosecution and I have reported their behaviour to the Governor of Istanbul, who have a department which can impose heavy fines on restaurants who abuse the trust of their customers in this way. I hope that people read this review and that the manager responds with an explanation. Shame on you.
