If you do one thing when you come to Fethiye, avoid this restaurant. As pictured, the restaurant and boat ride over is stunning but this could not begin to make up for our experience here.
To begin, we were the only customers there apart from a group of people who seemed to be hugging and kissing the staff which led us to believe they were family of the owners or some close acquaintance.
My partner and I don’t drink, which is always respected in restaurants especially ones we’ve visited in Turkey. But here, cocktails were pushed on us despite explaining we didn’t drink and we were frowned at for ordering soft drinks.
We were then taken up to the counter to look at their meze offering which was a bit odd anyway as no need to look at hummus in a glass case before ordering but we went along with it. The waiter then basically started telling us what we were having despite us not being on board with his suggestions. He assumed we’d be having what he advised and seemed really taken a back when we made our own choices respectfully. We were then shown to the ‘fish counter’ which had a few sad looking prawns and huge whole sea basses. Again, not that we indicated that we were having fish let alone the huge one the waiter picked out and insisted on weighing for us (1.8kg) but failed to mention the price. When we declined he started asking why and then weighed another 2 smaller fish when I finally said we don’t like sea bass to get him off our case.
My partner went to the toilet which had no lights at all and had to use his flash light on his phone as advised by a worker.
Our starters came quickly with no bread. I’m not sure what exactly we had as the waiter quickly rushed us around the meze counter when we were ordering but everything tasted very strange. The only thing we ordered that was edible was the halloumi. The waiter insisted on my partner having a hot starter which we didn’t really understand what it was but told us how delicious it was. Still, we have no idea it was but my partner said it was the worst thing he ever ate and described it as warmed up urine. For some context, my partner will eat near enough anything served to him but he actually left this. I couldnt bare the smell to even try it.
The kitchen then went down before our mains so a long wait followed our starters. Following from our terrible starters I told my partner I’d be ordered the cheapest most basic main to avoid any issues and actually being able to eat something tonight. My vegetarian pasta was as nice as it could be. My partner on the other hand went for the jumbo grilled prawns which were very clearly spoiled with the strangest taste to them which he then left again.
To sum it up, we were actually shocked and laughing at how consistently terrible the food was. Luckily we can make light of certain situations.
As for the atmosphere, it was the most awkward, intense and uncomfortable few hours of our lives. I can only imagine this is coming from management who we saw were actually sat in the restaurant in a corner and we felt quite bad for the staff there. There were about 50 staff made up of waiters, bar staff, entertainers and chefs. As we were the only people there, they started at us and watched our every move for the entire evening. I felt like jumping over the side of the railing into the water.
This place is completely overpriced and clearly trying to scam people out of money. We decided to dig deeper into the reviews while we were sat laughing at our disastrous evening and quickly realised this restaurant must have paid to have bad reviews removed and found their trip advisor ranking them one of the lowest of the 400 restaurants in Fethiye.
When we asked for the bill the waiter was awkwardly pleading with us to stay which I can imagine he is probably monitored on. Stating they had entertainment and performances starting soon. Luckily we had seen a review mentioning that the plate smashing they try to push actually comes at a hefty price tag and not just a fun addition to...
Read moreFirst, I'd like to clarify that my review is not about the staff; my critique is directed entirely toward the MANAGEMENT and OWNER of the establishment.
When we arrived, the restaurant was unprepared. Many food and drink items listed on the menu were unavailable. The waitstaff seemed embarrassed to repeatedly say, "We don't have that," clearly following instructions from management to provide excuses.
The service was adequate, and while the food we ordered wasn’t terrible, it didn’t live up to the restaurant’s name. The shrimp dish, in particular, was disappointing—not because of the preparation or sauce, but because something was clearly wrong with the shrimp itself. Again, the staff, already embarrassed, had to apologize.
As for the entertainment, the bouzouki/sirtaki show, advertised to start at 9 PM, didn’t begin until around 9:30. It was far less entertaining than advertised on social media—short, full of breaks, and lackluster overall.
This experience was especially unfortunate because I had visited the restaurant last year and had a similar experience. Still, I decided to give it another chance, bringing friends visiting from Greece, hoping for improvement. Sadly, it was another disappointment.
In summary, a restaurant cannot thrive by neglecting to restock ingredients simply because it’s the end of the season and then pushing the blame onto the staff. The waiters were trained to give excuses like, "It’s the end of the season, so we haven’t restocked." If you’re offering a seasonal menu with seasonal prices, the standard of service and quality should be consistent, regardless of the time of year. Otherwise, you shouldn’t be advertising that you’re still open and will remain so until the end of the month just to finish off whatever is left over in...
Read moreMyself and my partner visited this restaurant on 16th September for a special last night in Turkey. Been coming to the area for the last 10 years as my family have a house near Calis Wanted to come to the island and experience the amazing restaurant with excellent views. What an unbelievable disappointment I’m sorry to say. Views stunning amazing setting But this was ruined by a hard sell on both fish choice and wine. We wanted sea bass but we’re told smallest fish available was 1.3 kg for 2 people this was way too much. Chef kept trying to push other more expensive fish as he did to the previous couple so we later heard. Again with the wine ( very over priced selection) we made a choice and waiter again told us the choice we made wasn’t good and tried to sell us a very expensive bottle of Italian ??? Why wouldn’t we choose local produced. When the sea bass came out as we thought was way too much for 2 people and struggled to eat half. When questioned the waiter realised and agreed the size would have suited 2-3 people . Really disappointing to have such a hard sell and made to feel uncomfortable with your choice. I think the waiter realised how we felt and bought a complimentary fruit platter( amazing ) Quality of the food could not be questioned but the overall experience left a very bad taste as did the other couple we chatted to! Only 3 x couples in the restaurant said it all. The overall experience made the last night very uncomfortable. The strategy of the staff needs to seriously change. Overall cost of experience was approximately 3 times the price of a very good restaurant in Fethiye marina with excellent cuisine and ambiance. I never write reviews however I woke up so disappointed I felt I had to warn others of...
