I have always enjoyed visiting this picturesque restaurant and have had wonderful experiences here in the past. That’s why, when my friends came to visit from Kenya, I was happy to drive all the way from Dubai last Saturday (19th of April) to share this special place with them
After a long 2.5-hour drive, we arrived about 15 minutes before closing time, only to be turned away at the door. I completely understand and respect that restaurants have to follow closing policies to ensure staff can finish their day properly. That said, I was genuinely disappointed because staff were still present, and a few diners were still enjoying their meals.
As travelers who had been on the road for hours, my friends and I were hungry and tired, hoping for even a simple cup of tea as a small gesture of hospitality. I empathize with the challenges of running a busy restaurant, but a little flexibility or kindness in moments like these can mean so much to guests, especially when other options are limited late at night.
Unfortunately, the restaurant declined to serve us anything hot and only offered cold beverages, which felt a bit unwelcoming and inflexible. After such a long journey, this left us feeling disheartened during the drive back down the mountain—still hungry, tired, plus we still had to pay the entrance fee at the gate!
I truly hope the management can understand the perspective of guests who travel far and consider extending a bit of warmth and empathy in situations like this. A small act of kindness can create lasting positive memories and make all...
Read moreThe dine-in experience was an abomination. First of all, we waited a long time to have a waiter take our order which is understanding considering the restaurant was busy - which means the restaurant is understaffed on a New Year’s Eve weekend (one of the busiest) in the year! Second of all, we requested the soup to come down first and not with the rest of the food and it was one of the last things that came down, and now with regards to the rest of the food, it came: a) Cold like the food was just lying on the side for a while - they didn’t even have the curtsy to ‘heat’ it to try to save face b) The steaks was mainly ‘fat’ with a side of ‘meat’ and needless to say that the steak was not seasoned properly and lacked flavor. c) The sauce requested to come with the steak was incorrect and when I asked for the right sauce, it never came and I was left with a dry steak. d) one of the plates literally had a piece of foil amongst the food like where is the food quality check? They offered to ‘cancel’ the order which is fine - but that still leaves me hungry with no food…
When we complained that the food was cold they took it back to ‘re-heat’ so the steak came back literally tasting like an elastic because it got ‘over cooked’ when reheated.
All in all, food quality was HORRIBLE, but more than just the food being bad, I was more shocked at the POOR customer service. I can understand busy restaurants and understaffed days and overwhelmed kitchens but having bad customer service is inexcusable and honestly just bad for tourism for one of the unique...

Ambiance: The Fen offers a cozy and elegant atmosphere with stylish decor that creates a relaxing dining experience. Food: Each dish was delicious, fresh, and beautifully presented. . Service: I appreciate the staff's efforts and the enthusiasm she bring to her role. It's clear that she want to provide good service to your customers. We asked about the ingredients in the dish, she seemed unsure and couldn't provide the information we needed. It's crucial for her to be familiar with the menu, including ingredients and preparation methods. Spending some time reviewing the menu and possibly tasting some of the dishes could help. Arranging a tasting session might be beneficial. Cleanliness: Impeccably clean, from the dining area to the restrooms. Wait Time: Not that Short but well worth it for the quality of the food. Accessibility: Easy to find with ample parking, and kid friendly. Dietary Options: Offers vegetarian and gluten-free options, catering to various dietary needs. Beverages: The beverage selection is extensive, with unique cocktails and a good variety of wines. Price: Moderate, considering the quality of the food and service. Reservation: Easy to make online, but we walked in, still alright 😆 Overall: My experience at The Fen was highly satisfying.
