Had a family meal here, after spending some time at duthie Park. Ghilliea lair is a great place to come with the family, a nice relaxed friendly atmosphere, The staff are lovely and accommodating. We asked for a quiet area (we have children who can get sensory overload) and the waitress took us to the downstairs area, and turned down the nearby speaker for us, We booked a table in advance, but the restaurant wasn't overly busy, so it was a nice relaxing meal. The food was delicious, and there is a wide selection on the menu, which made it difficult for us to choose, but that just means we will have to return again 😊 The free salad bar is an added bonus, and it has a good selection to choose from. It has a lovely setting by the river, and we noticed what looked like an entrance to a walk down to the riverbank, we will explore that next time. Overall we had a lovely meal, the food was excellent and the staff gave it a warm welcoming experience, thank you. The only negative would be the toilets,(ladies) they weren't particularly nice, and definitely need an upgrade. I presume there is an issue with the flush, as most hadn't been flushed properly, 2 toilets looked to be broken.

Went here for lunch, chain restaurant so you expect what you pay for, and can’t really fault it. The decor inside is fine, welcoming and plenty of space. The outside area is maybe not used as much, the patios needs a scrub, fencing a lock of paint and a general power wash. Food was tasty and presented and prepared good, was full and didn’t need the extra chips I ordered but still ate them. Staff member was great, friendly and dog friendly, dogs loved the attention 😀. Price like I say matched the food quality. Good value and tasty. Extensive menu and a salad bar, never made it to the salad bar as that’s not my kind of thing. The cheesy garlic bread could be a bit better, but was ok. ( the image is only half a portion, I ate it before I took the picture). The carpark is large, the entrance a quick lock of paint and boom, job done. All in all good place to go, good staff, food and a view of the river Dee

6 of us went to The Ghillies Lair for dinner. The staff were really friendly and helpful but I can’t say we enjoyed the food. It was all fine, but nothing particularly nice that I would recommend. The salad bar was the best bit. I ordered: Simply Chicken - The greens were dried up, the baked potato was clearly microwaved and dried up and the chicken was dry with thick gelatinous gravy. Not very appetising. It all seemed microwaved. Others ordered: Scampi and Chips Chicken Skewers Halloumi skewers - which were apparently good Half Rotisserie Chicken - with hollow chips The Dirty Bird Burger I have been here before and enjoyed it, so i was disappointed. The menu reads so good, so i’ll have to go back for the deciding vote i think.

Visited here yesterday as on holiday for a few days with the family. Sadly we had a terrible experience. There was 5 of us and we sat down at our table at 6.30pm. ordered within 10 mins or so. Salad bar well that was shocking we went up several times, no rolls no butter, there was lettuce and coleslaw and tomatos that was it for nearly 20 mins. The salad bar was a mess and Just looked dirty. After sitting now for 50 mins. No sign of dinner so we speak to the man on shift not sure if manager or not and he goes and check what's going on. Comes back to say to us our food is way back at the list still to be made and he is so sorry as he knows we've been here a long time. I asked him just to sort the kids out with food as we couldn't wait any longer as by now we had been there 1 hour 10 mins with no food. He done what he could and got the kids fed but after 1 hour 30 the other 3 adults left a restaurant without having had anything to eat. Which is shocking and to be honest would put me off ever going back. They also had to come back 3 times to tell us they didn't have things we ordered!!! Really bad for a Friday at 6.30pm. so yeah sadly a very bad first...

Unfortunately this visit wasn't great at all what has changed our opinion greatly on this company,

My family was regularly visiting here every month about a year ago and the food was always perfect with us I returned here today with some friends and was very disappointed,

We tried to order the ultimate mix grill today and the waiter said that there was no rump steak I asked what can you replace it with and the reply was it would be an additional £6 for a upgraded stake making the mixed grill a shocking £27.99,

We both opted out of the ultimate mixed grill and tried to order the dirty bird burger which we were told they ran out of chicken after this I proceeded to order the nachos and full rack of ribs, nachos was fine although the ribs were a complete let down, I overheard another table getting there order taken and they were complaining about there food,

In the future it would be good to let customers know there is a limited menu before they sit down for the 15 minutes we waited,

Visit at your own risk and please reads some of the reviews I hope this helps customers for the future me and my group won't...
