What an amazing meal we had at Sunday lunch time for the Urban Wellness Float staff meal with all 9 of us having the festive menu. And not one person had any single issue with all three course. The salmon and prawn cocktail was awesome, huge prawns sitting on 3 slices of smoked salmon. The turkey main course was a big portion and I mean it was BIG. 2 large slices of of turkey breast covering ⅓ of the plate, roast tatties, mash, mealie, lovely glazed carrots and parsnips. Pigs and blankets. With gravy and cranberry sauce on the side. Puddings were great too. Big portions again. They even organised Yorkshire puddings to go with the turkey. Jessica and Mikey were so attentive from start to finish. Drinks came quickly and Mikey asking if we needed more throughout the meal. I am so glad me and mates are heading there on Friday this week for another festive dinner. Thanks to ALL staff including the kitchen for such an amazing experience. Roll on Friday...

We went to the Mains of Scotstown for our work’s Christmas lunch. The staff were fantastic! Super friendly and very accommodating. The festive menu was really lovely, most of the table went for turkey but as it was a Sunday we were offered the option of the roast beef. I opted for the beef and offered how I would like it cooked (opted for medium-rare). The whole meal was lovely! Everyone enjoyed their starters, mains, & puddings… Although nothing can compete with my Mum’s trifle, the boozy trifle was enjoyable and definitely as described 😉 Delighted to have my local pub back, highly recommend visiting now that it’s under new management. Wishing the new owners and staff every success in the future. Look forward to visiting again soon. Ps loved the Christmas crackers, and the charities they support too!

We had an afternoon tea in the Conservatory on Sunday 26th October to celebrate my mum’s 90th birthday. (18 adults and 5 kids) Absolutely can’t fault anything - the food was just lovely, there was plenty of it and what was left we were able to take home in boxes provided by the staff. Service was attentive and friendly from start to finish. The organisation was spot on right from my first enquiry and nothing was too much bother - Jessica even managed to find me candles for mum’s cake because I forgot mine! We all had a lovely afternoon and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the place 😊 Thank you Jessica, Calum and your staff

Went up for lunch first time out in a restaurant since covid to say we was disappointed would be an understatement, there was our table which consisted of 2 peaple and just one other table in the restaurant the rest of tables were empty that was once somebody actually acknowledged that we was standing waiting to be seated without just walking past us and ignoring us, 20 mins after waiting to be seated the food took another good 45mins to arrive , food was Luke warm my burger didnt have any cheese on which I asked for my friends burger u could tell wasnt even that warm as the slice of cheese they put on hers hadnt melted in the slightest , in the menu it said it came with shoe string frys it didnt it came with the parmesan and truffle frys we ordered on the side as an extra but just without the parmesan and to say they was burnt would be an understatement, she took my burger away as it didnt have any cheese waited a further 25 mins to get it back it basically took 25 mins to throw a slice of cheese on it and let the chicken burger go cold and bun soggy it was disgusting , I wouldn't waste your money going to this place service is shocking I mean there was only one other table and then us food is disgusting no pride In display of food basically fry it to death throw it on plate and it was like this before covid aswell so givin it 2 chances as I knew it had changed owners place hasnt got much better actually the food was better with previous owner but service still utterly shocking saver yer cash an go els where it really isnt worth it...

Was there last night ordered soup and beetroot bruschetta, soup was very thick , no taste and gloopy! Meant to come with sourdough bread roll which it came with normal roll ! Bruschetta was overly priced at £6.50 for one piece of bruschetta with diced beetroot on top and mozarells balls on top , no side salad and toasted on one side and soaked in oil dressing ! Complained to the Manager who didn’t even apologise he Instead argued back trying to defend himself said he would check with kitchen and didn’t come back ! We then heard the other member of staff say she’s still not happy ??? But the manager did not come back over instead they stood speaking between themselves! We then went to the bar for a drink and could see out the window the manager lighting up and smoking outside which is so unprofessional for a manager and also smelling of smoke while serving food ! General Hygiene was also noted ! This was an extremely disappointing experience as we really hoped the mains would be back to the standard they use to be years ago! Staff could be more friendly and attentive which they were not in the restaurant but the guy in the bar area was so nice and helpful . Please take these comments on board as everyone wants to see The Mains do well . Overall disappointing and over priced for what you get especially...

This was our first time back to the restaurant under the new owners, but have visited the bar a few times since it's reopened. Heartened to see it's been busy each time we have. visited. We have been customers of The Mains for several years, living in BoD for 35 years in December. A lovely warm welcome by one waitress who was very friendly and understood my dilemma with the choice in the new menu. We both decided on the haggis and black pudding bonbons, a personal favourite, and thoroughly enjoyed. My Husband had the chicken strips. The accompanying sauce and coleslaw were outstanding, as I had to have a taste. I went for the spiced ginger and soy steak. Wow! The burst of flavours in this dish is amazing. I was left with a tingling in my mouth, but it was not overly spicy either. Just perfect. We spoke to the owner and commended him on how great a job he and his Wife and Team were doing so far. Keep this going and you will really see what a gem of a community pub you have inherited....
