Burger King — Restaurant in Amber Valley

This Burger King had undergone a refurbishment since my previous visit. Now an easily accessed seating area, shared with the neighboring Greg's is in front of the service area.

The food was at the normal standard (perfectly acceptable). Everything was let down by the counter staff member. She was polite, but perhaps could do with a refresher course, and spending a little more energy on listening and concentrating.

The first disappointment came with a substitution request. Ordering meals to take home, the drinks would be somewhat irrelevant. So I asked if the drinks could be substituted with fries. This is something that I have done at many branches of KFC, McDonald's, and Burger King... Including this very branch! But the response was "Err, no. I don't think we can do that." (So much for "Have it your way".)

Okay, a minor inconvenience that I could look past on its own. I proceeded to order the meals. Each time specifying the size (regular/large), the drink, the burger (carefully describing the alterations), and that it was as a meal. Each time I had to answer the question "Is that a meal?", twice I had to repeat the drink, once I had to repeat the entire meal order! Then to rub salt into the wounds, the staff member confirmed to me one of the meals being ordered, but entered it into the till incorrectly, which I did not realise until after receiving everything because the confirmation of telling me what I ordered meant to me that the order was going to be recorded correctly.

It is not catastrophic, but it is still an unnecessary inconvenience that simply paying more attention to the job, and taking a little care, would completely solve.

It won't stop me going back and trying again. Hopefully next time things will be just that...

Generally good and consistent. Food often cooked to order as trade is steady, which is better in my opinion as I've never had a luke warm or cold meal from here. Staff pleasant enough and get on with the job in hand but not overly engaging. Went a few times over the summer where BK was closed with no sign on the door or explanation - disappointing we are in a pandemic so can't be helped I guess. They got my order wrong once but I declined to return to the restaurant as i had got home when I realised. To be fair head office did send me a voucher for a free meal when I emailed them. Went today and ordered a whopper burger and asked for a couple of sachets of ketchup - rather than just give them to me the server said 'it already has ketchup in it.' Yes, I am aware of this but I'd still like them please! 🙄 She did give them to me eventually! As I say there are one or two minor gripes but seems unfair to knock more than one star off as they are...

I do love a good burger king, this one was made superbly better than usual by the remarkably helpful amusing girl working behind the counter. Didn't catch her name but she certainly made us laugh whilst we waited for the food being prepared. The chips that burger king offer are the best of all fast food outlets in my opinion, I also had a double bacon cheese XL which they happily added my sauces of choice to, my allergies were accounted for and we were given a choice of dipping sauces for the chilli cheese bites we had. Over all a superb place, I often wonder if the price is inflated here due to it being a part of a service station but it's the only burger king in a 10 mile radius so I never get the...
