One of the worst restaurant experiences I had the displeasure of having. The complaints I have about cherrywood smoke house is so numerous and varied the only way I could describe them is through chronological order.

When we first got to the restaurant at 19:30 (which was the time we booked for over the phone) we found the place vary busy and loud. we didn’t mind this since this was on a Saturday evening and we usually expect it to be busy.

We told the servers we booked a table for two and they asked us to wait for the table to be ready, So we sat at the bar and waited for around 20 minutes before being taken outside in a cold dark corner of the restaurant where we could even enjoy the admittedly beautiful view of where the restaurant was located. I politely asked if this was the only seats available since we were freezing and would rather just leave than eat at the table we were allocated.

The server then tried to offer us a table that was already taken before giving us a small table that was clearly only meant for drinking at but at least we were inside then and the view of the countryside was beautiful. We ordered a couple of drinks and our food (starters we ordered were nachos and burnt ends with a smokehouse platter to share as our main course).

We waited for our food for about 30 minutes before being told we were moving to another table on the other side of the restaurant ( this was now the third time we had been moved to another table now), I asked politely when our starters were ready and the server said he’d see when they’d be but we never saw him again after that.

We waited another 30 minutes( it’s been a whole hour now and no one offered us any drinks in that time either)before any food came, during that time we talked with other people people next to us who had very similar experiences to us. We heard people complaining to the servers, a few people including a family of six walking out after a hour and a half for waiting for food, at this time we was deciding to leave aswell as we haven’t had our starters yet but before we could out mains came. I told the server we haven’t had our starters yet and she genuinely looked lost and confused, she told us she’ll find out where our food went but I stopped her and told her to just take it off the bill.

The food was dry like it was left u see a hot light for a hour, the chips wasn’t bland and cold, we was finished with the evening we waited another 30 minutes for anyone to collect our below average food (which cost us £55,I felt scammed by the quality of the food for that price, way too high).

Someone finally came by that time the place was nearly empty, (a lot of people walked out very unhappy with the experience)the server took our food and asked how was the meal so I told her, all she did was stare at me blankly before walking off with the food and dropping some on the floor accidentally.

I asked for the bill but no one came so I just went to them to pay for it I was so done at this point I just wanted to go home. The woman who gave me the bill said she was sorry for the unpleasant experience and said she took some off the bill for the trouble, I looked at the bill and nothing ( except for the starters that never turned up) was taken off, I told her this and shower her the bill she gave us and she just looked confused and mumbled something I couldn’t hear.

I just decided to pay for the food as she apologised to be honest I should’ve refused to pay for the meal nothing went well but I just couldn’t stand being there anymore. we didn’t even leave till 21:30, three quarters of the time we as there we was just waiting for food or drinks or to get the bill…so disappointed in everyone involved especially the manager who we saw less and less as the evening went on.

Overall the experience was one of the worst I’ve had in a while (maybe even the worst I’ve had). I had high hopes for the evening and at the end neither me nor my partner was happy. Cherrywood smokehouse needs to get their act together or...

I try to give a balanced review based on my experience and quality of food and service. Three stars for food are based on several factors, I was in a group of 6. we had read previous reviews, but we wanted to see for ourselves. So..... The menu list is amazing in content and exhaustive in variety. Perhaps too much , there's an Indian menu, a burger menu, and a smokehouse menu. I think Cherrywood is doing too much instead of focusing on one or the other. We had burnt ends starter and sharing nachos with pulled pork. Nachos were great. The burnt ends were too small, but plenty of them, were slightly under done for me. Chicken sizzler was ordered by my wife. She said it was far too salty, I had 8 hour smoked beef rib, definitely agreed by my party was the best option on the smokehouse menu and cooked perfectly. I had a side dish of curry sauce, which was excellent. The pork Ribs were overdone slightly dry and not to the same standard as the beef rib.

There was a good supply of sauces and chips , easy to get right. And there is alcoholic and none alcoholic drinks available, including Gunness Zero! Service was polite, warm, and friendly, a bit slow waiting for the bill at the end. The atmosphere was good, and the dining area between tables was slightly cramped. Worth a visit , on the basis of a previous review we booked for after 5pm on a Sunday afternoon to experience the smokehouse menu, even though there's no mention of service times. This helped us I think. Personally the Indian food looks to be the better choice but if you've never had smokehouse give it a try,... 5pm Sunday's onwards and see for yourself. Not a bad experience by a long way and it can be better,. Maybe it will be! We will be back! Next time we may try the...

This place gave me and my friend food poisoning. And I havent had food poisoning for almost 3 years.

They arent a real smokehouse. None of their meats are smoked for 12hrs and the food is very reminiscent of the ready to grill BBQ meats you can get from a supermarket that "smoke" meats using liquid smoke as a cheap and quicker to produce then genuinely leaving the meat to slow cook and smoke for hours at a time.

The food was very bland and tasteless. Thats why they serve it covered in bbq sauce as there is no flavour. We ordered a cherrywood platter as a sampler to see how good the place was as I was also unsure of the size of the portions. My friend ordered a few other items off the menu like the pulled pork, Burnt ends, mushroom rosti and another item off the menu I cant remember.

We couldnt even get through half of it before leaving because it was just that bad and it didnt get any better.

Service was OK. We had an issue with our pepsi tasting like it had been left for a week and the staff were happy to change it for something else.

Atmosphere was OK. But we arrived just as it had opened so it was fairly quiet inside.

Avoid this place and either go to Hickory's Smokehouse (Nuthall) Or any of the pubs, inns and taverns in the area that will offer much higher quality grub at a much...

Good Food, Great service. We visited Cherrywood for the first time this evening and were very pleased we did. The service was absolutely flawless and the food was good. The menu contains a lot of choice, with smokehouse/grill as one option or Indian/Nepalese on the other so we were really spoilt for choice. We opted for starters on this occasion rather than desert (rarely that we can do both). For starters the garlic bread with cheese and mushroom soup were lovely. Two of us had the burnt ends which were a generous portion and very tasty. Main courses we opted for one tikka wrap, again generous portions and a mac and cheese (traditional american style), both kids really emjoyed the food. The two of us adults went for smokehouse option and ordered the ribs and the brisket. Both were flavoursome and cooked as described on the menu with large portion sizes. Overall we felt the price point was spot on and reflected the food received. We will definately be returning and we will be recommending this restaurant. It's definately one to experience and better than other smokehouses in the area within a 15 min drive (if you know, you know). Advice: Amazing views from the conservatory. It was not very busy so can't really comment on the atmosphere, also we were in the conservatory so didn't really hear the music.

Went for lunch hoping for the smokehouse menu at 2pm on a Sunday. Initially greeted by a very friendly team and seated in the conservatory. Weren’t given any menus or cutlery which we went to find for ourselves. There seemed to be a lot of waiting staff not knowing what was going on wandering about. Unfortunately the smokehouse menu does not start until 5pm which was a shame, leaving either carvery or Indian menu. Confused if this is an Indian restaurant or a smokehouse, as we found it strange it was both. The carvery wasn’t great, elements were nice such as the meat but the potatoes and veg were undercooked and stale. Prices seemed high for the quality of the food, £16.50 for adult carvery and £9.99 for children’s with no options for smaller children. We ordered an egg fried rice for our child as there were no other child options available at this time of day. Overall was disappointing, other tables were also leaving large amounts of food. Would give it a miss unless they make changes.
