I visited the farmhouse at mackworth for the first time yesterday and I visited with three friends. The outside and inside is absolutely beautiful I was amazed at how much space there was inside and how many people could be seated. We had a younger member of staff serve us who I think may have just started but any questions we had he went and asked management straight away, he was very kind and pleasant. We all ordered Mains and Desserts. Two or us ordered Pizzas and the other two ordered Burgers. The Pizza is done in its own oven which we were worried would mean the meals would come out at different times but there was under 5 minutes waiting time between the burgers arriving. I ordered a Margarita Pizza and asked for Onions, Mushrooms and Peppers to be added on top. The Onions were not cooked (this seems to be the way everywhere I go so perhaps I need to ask next time I order??) And the Peppers were not Bell Peppers but Chilli Peppers - My mistake but they technically gave me what I asked for but just be wary if you ask for peppers to be added on to anything. The pizza was very nice and filling, I asked for Balasmic Vinegar which went lovely with it and they even had a pizza cutter. (This doesn't happen to most of the places I eat at so this was very exciting!) For dessert 3 of us had the Gooey Brownie (as pictured) and the other had Toffee Pudding. We all enjoyed our desserts. The toilets were very clean and there was plenty of them! Which is love - nothing worse than waiting in a queue! The reason why I have marked it down 1 star is for the amount of flies and spiders. Luckily it wasn't until after eating I noticed them, other people in our party did but didn't mention it due to us all being in the middle of eating. There was a fly around us the majority of the meal I assumed it was the same one just come back to us but looking up at the window there seemed to be a nest of at least 10, with Spiders and Wasps as well...we were in the conservatory part of the restaurant near the door but the door and windows were not open There probably isn't much you can do when it's one fly or two but when it's as many as there was I was a bit surprised. I'm also glad I didn't look up when I first started eating. Apart from that it was a really nice experience. I would hope to see some more Vegetarian options on the menu, all of them seem to be a bit too adventurous.... Sometimes it just nice to have simplier options as we all struggled to pin point something where we liked all of the ingredients. Would come back again and would sit somewhere else in the restaurant and hopefully by then there will be different options on the menu.

As a wedding photographer, I have had the pleasure of photographing several weddings at The Farmhouse at Mackworth and I must say, it is truly a stunning venue. Located on the edge of the tranquil medieval village of Mackworth and just a stone's throw away from the Peak District, the venue is situated in what was once an 18th century farmhouse that has been beautifully restored to blend old with new. The food and drinks served at The Farmhouse are top-notch, with delicious meals coming straight from the kitchen and crafted drinks poured at the bar every day of the week. The menu is diverse and caters to different tastes, making it a great option for guests with dietary restrictions. The 10 beautiful bedrooms at The Farmhouse are the perfect getaway for those looking to relax after a long day of celebrating. The rooms are well-appointed and comfortable, providing guests with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The Folly, the charming venue at The Farmhouse, is the ideal location for weddings and events. The venue's stunning surroundings and picturesque architecture make it a photographer's dream, offering endless opportunities for capturing beautiful memories. The venue's staff is also fantastic, they go above and beyond to ensure that everything runs smoothly and that the wedding is a success. In conclusion, if you are in search of a venue that offers excellent food and drinks, comfortable accommodation, and a charming setting for your wedding or event, The Farmhouse at Mackworth is the perfect choice. I highly recommend it and I look forward to my next opportunity to photograph a wedding there.

Expected more for the price we paid for our room. Expensive and not value for money at all. For £175 I at least expected a couple of biscuits to nibble on. The decor was nice, lighting moody and terrible. Cobwebs all over the lights, toilet seat so cheap and nasty it kept sliding around when we sat down. Toilet refilling and hot water running was extremely noisy for our room and the room next door. Fan in bathroom stays on for 10 minutes after switched off and was very noisy. Cord for operating window blind so high up I had to stand on the seat-boxing around the window to reach it, window was very heavy and difficult to close. Room was noisy from the room next door because their bathroom was a few feet away from our bed so you could hear people squirming around in the bath, not what you want to hear to wake you up first thing in the morning. Check in was done online but when we got there we had to ‘check in’ again to get our key and confirm ourselves, which was slow standing holding outfits and baggage for 10 minutes on crutches. Door to room wasn’t easy to close quietly as it was on an auto-slam safety thing and heavy. The only positive thing I can say about this visit is that the bed was comfy! Sorry but I’m being honest and not impressed with paying such a high amount for one nights stay when everything wasn’t great.

Service poor No comms on who the server was, had about 4 different people try and take our order after waiting about 20mins to be asked for drinks or food order Asked for kids meals to come out with starter, as it takes them forever to eat, one kids meal came out with our starter, the starter we had had to be sent back twice, the camembert is very clearly microwaved, first time it came out cold and solid in the middle, however the bowl it came in was red hot, back we go, only for it to come back out where they have clearly just chucked the whole plate, which also had bread and chutney on, back into the microwave, asked for a fresh one, but that had clearly been microwaved aswell, so just accept defeat on that one All this faf still waiting for the second kids meal to come out, had to prompt staff again, finally came out, was ok. Then more waiting for them to clear the awful starter away, then more waiting for the mains to come out, mains came out, were again ok, not value for money though at all, this is an expensive place to eat. Then after bringing our mains out we were asked if it was just the kids meals to come out, haha couldnt make it up, no weve been waiting that long theyve managed to eat theres and had plates taken away All this waiting meant we had finished our drinks, but rather that wait any longer to get the staff attention, my wife went to the bar and ordered some drinks (we were in the actual restaurant part) The quickest service of the night was after they had put the bill down and i advised we were paying by card, straight back over to take my money, funny that All in all a very dissapointing trip and not somewhere i would...
