Booked in for a meal on Saturday evening at 6:30pm. Upon arrival, we ordered drinks at the bar and I was served a pint of IPA in a Madri glass! Not a great start. We were pointed to our table by the barman - 'you're in there' *pointing through the wall. I'm not sure why we wasn't taken to it by the 2 waitresses stood next to us at the bar 🤷🏻 (not blaming them at all). The table was in the tap room which was busy with people and dogs. Not a issue at all, as we are dog owners, however, it would have been nice to be asked if we wanted to sit in the bar or the restaurant, which was half empty at the time. I'd have expected to be asked this at time of booking (2 weeks prior) really. Then we asked for menus, and were told ....'I'll tell you what we don't have'..... No pies, no lasagne, no trio of sausages, no fish, no gammon, no pizza. That left a choice of 3 chicken dishes, rump steak, or vegetarian dishes. None of which we wanted. They advertised how good the pie dishes, sausage dishes, and lasagne are.... that very afternoon!

It's 6:30pm on a Saturday, with many other bookings arriving. I'm sorry, but that's really poor planning. How can you accept booked covers on a Saturday evening with less than half your advertised menu?!

We left and had to find somewhere else to eat. This really is a Lovely pub, and a good pint when ever I've called in before. But this experience was Really disappointing 😞

I did leave a message on their Facebook page. Not a complaint, as I'm not that kind of person, and I'll drink in there again for sure beacuse its a lovely village boozer. I just left a short version of this review. IPA in a madri glass, and not being shown to a table, is basic stuff. Hard to get wrong imo.

The pub removed the comment, and didn't even contact me!! That to me is awful customer service. I don't want owt from them. But take ownership and responsibility for a poor service! And at the very least, reply to a public comment with something positive. Own it, learn from it. Reputation damage in a small community isn't good for any of us.

As I've said, lovely pub, decent pint. But that experience was not good at...

Went with a group of friends. Fish, chips and Mushy peas horrible. I am 75 and this is only the 3rd time in all those years I have had a lousy meal out. The Fish was OLD I mean when you ripped back the SOGGY batter the fish itself was dry to the bone and the colour of the fish was GREY....... Fit only for the BIN. Then the chips too big, too short, too thick and far far too dry... YUK. Then came the peas my god in a tiny wee thimble bowl compressed by some crazy person int a concrete dry yukky unpleasant mess. My friends had a meat pie maybe Steak and Kidney and the pastry on that also looked really grim. I doubt any CHEF with any training would ever create such an aweful meal. To top that two older children with us had the Triple Ice cream dessert that was in fact a tiny square of brownie choclate cake then they drizzled Microwaved chocolate (only a bit) onto the plate (this isnt the HILTON why do that) and then put some out of a CAN CREAM on top. I mean talk about rip off. If I had been 20 years younger I would have forced my way into the kitchen and stuck that junk under the supposed CHEFS nose....

We arrived to a very warm welcome. The beer and food were excellent. Andy knows how to keep a good pint for sure. I recommend the local Pedigree. Our kids and dog were made a big fuss off by Andy and Kate (who run the place and ARE NOT the owners who appear to have received the previous unpleasant comments so don’t be deterred ) nothing was too much trouble for them and the banter and atmosphere they created was so warm and friendly my only discrepancy would be to get more staff as these two coped remarkable well and delivered the best customer service they could possible give, given the amount of people and size of the place they were seriously rushed off the feet . It was packed full of locals who seemingly seem to adore this friendly couple and new visitors are also treated with the same warmth and friendliness. I would highly recommend and will return. Rib of beef and the pannacotta was To die for,...

This review involves the restaurant. The Jug & Glass was recommended by the Family Tree Inn nearby, so we decided to pop in for dinner on a Wednesday night. We didn't have a booking, but that was no bother as the cheery waitress sat us in the corner of a room where a local group was meeting to organize some sort of event. The waitress consulted with the chef on what food I could order since I have a particular food allergy. It was decided that the chicken & leek pie was safe, because it was made in house. This is quite unusual as most other establishments have their's brought in and they contain the allergen that I cannot tolerate. So, I ordered the pie and the serving that came was huge, complete with fresh cooked peas and hand cut chips that were cooked to perfection. The portion was so large, that I could not eat it all. Delicious food. Cheery waitress. Reasonable prices. Certainly worth a stop.

after hiking, arrived on 1:30pm thursday. we were the only customers. the last order of meals was 2pm. the pub would be closed 2:30pm but we stayed till 2:40pm. the meals ordered were tasty. the steak pie was in generous portion. From Monday to Friday,.two courses lunchtime meal cost £8.95 worth consider. the starters pea soup and whitebaits are delicious, cottage pie and ham, eggs and chips are tasty. the slow cooked belly pork wirh crackling crispy skin is delicious. the dessert sticky toffee spongy with custard is good and not too sweet. there is no free wifi in the premises.

Enjoyed a yummy chicken, with a paprika and garlic rub served with salad and skinny fries in the sunshine with a pint of Carlsberg here on 14.5.2022. My friends had halves and hit the gin bar trying a lemon gin and a rhubarb gin with tonics. I noticed they also served wainwrights and 2 premium largers. Very clean, landlord very welcoming as were the locals and the young man who served our food could not have been more helpful. A great find and I will definitely return when next in the area
