2nd Update 27/08/2025 Phoned to place an order for 2 meals and my complimentary meal from my complaint as mentioned below. The gentleman I spoke to asked me to phone back in 5 minutes after he had spoken to the owner Lal as he was not there - I personally believe he should have rang me back instead of me having to ring again but that's my opinion. Unfortunately as I had to phone to advise of the complimentary meal, it did mean that we were unable to use the discount code as usual via the web and therefore missed out on saving just under £8 - a nice touch for a complaining customer would be to offer this discount as a kind gesture. The food took 45 minutes to arrive, however we were unfortunately missing one of the main dishes and therefore I had to ring and advise them of this. The missing dish was sent out to us and received within 15 minutes so in total this took 1 hour to receive the order. Unfortunately upon dishing up, I found a small hair stuck in one of the onion bhajis (see photo). Apart from the hair, the food was tasty and good portions. Lal, I appreciate your kind gesture of this complimentary meal and the korma was definitely an improvement from my last review, however I feel the standards of Anokha are unfortunately dropping and we may have to look elsewhere for our Indian takeaway. Due to the issues faced I have amended my food rating from 2 star to 3 star, my service rating from 5 star to 3 star, and I leave my atmosphere rating as 5. My overall rating remains as 2 star. Original review posted 2 weeks ago below. 1st Update: After posting this review I have received a phone call from the owner wishing to remedy the issues I faced. I have been offered a complimentary meal for another day. Its greatly appreciated for a restaurant to want to keep their customers and fix any problems. I will have no issues in amending this review to reflect the quality of food once I have the complimentary meal. Regularly order from Anokha for delivery and was looking forward to my takeaway this evening, however very disappointed this time to get such a small amount of chicken (small chunks too) in the gallon of sauce. The photo I have included shows the chicken taking up probably one fifth of a normal size dinner plate. Also had a gristly bit of chicken. This is not usual Anokha standards so unsure why quality and quantity has dropped. I hope this is not a progressive downfall as I would hate to have to find a replacement Indian takeaway.

Went inside and was immediately seated and provided menus, it was around 19:00 and the restaurant was very quiet with only another family seated away from us. Upon sitting down we were hearing the constant sound of deliveroo orders being made (since this restaurant apparently does delivery) which broke the silence very frequently. We were giving popadoms and sauces during our >30 minute wait for starters and another 40 minutes for mains. It's understandable though, they clearly put effort into their food. However, calamari rings felt too doughy and there was hardly any squid in them, they also tasted frozen. Steamed rice felt stale too. It's a decent local place.

Waited 2 and a half hours for our mains to arrive, and for the majority of that time, not a single other table had food on their table (as evidenced by the photo) . :/ Don't get me wrong, the food itself is lovely. But it is legit the worst service I've ever had in an Indian restaurant. I don't put that lightly, and I hate leaving bad reviews, but these guys have really gotta streamline their serving process. It's faster to order from JustEat and deliver to the place itself FROM the same place than it is to order to the table, lmao

Edit : In response to Anokhas reply.

Please check other reviews too, I am not the only person to mention waiting over 2 hours...

Initially, when I left this review I genuinely thought I was being fair by giving a 3 star rating. Given the level of arrogance in the response, I have now lowered to a 1 star.

I have ordered by phone, frequently over the last 5 years, however, never stated that I am a "regular customer", interestingly I would usually order popadoms and bhajis so you are telling me I have been paying for items that should have been free?

I have only ever rung your number, placed order for either delivery or collection, never even realised you were with a "third party delivery platform"

Every time I have rung up in previous attempts to sort out missing items, they have been sorted, however when the missing items arrive 40minutes after we have previous waited 2.5hours for our food to arrive seems a bit pointless.

So my review stands, is 100% honest, factual and genuine, I'm sure not all orders are as bad as my experience, I used to really look forward to food from this place. Not any longer.

So I have finally ordered my last meal from this place. In the past, the food from this place has been amazing. Great quality, packed with flavour and delivered with care. However, the last 5 times I have been let down. I dont often leave negative reviews. I ordered a couple of times for delivery, both times took over 2 hours, and both times were delivered cold and missing items. So I thought I'd try collection to resolve this. Each time I collected, after being told 40mins before it will be ready, I'm sat waiting for a further 30 mins before I'm then rushed off before I've checked it. Got home and items missing. The last chance I took was back to a delivery, food eventually arrived 2.5 hours after order, missing both the garlic naan, keema naan, and 1 x mushroom rice. But strangely had 17 popadoms and 12 onion bajis. Neither of which I ordered. Food had literally no spice, no flavour, was cold on arrival so heating through before attempting to eat. All in all, thouroughly dissapointed. Food went in bin. Will not be recommending them and will not be...

30th august, We finally got our food at 2140 after we ordered it at 1900 we phoned up twice to ask where our food was to be told the first time that it was out for delivery and would be half hour. Food never arrived the 2nd phone call we was told that delivery time had been changed and that the food will be with us in the next hour (taking in mind that we order at 1900 and was already an hour delivery wait) and that the driver will be doing multiple deliveries at a time. Food arrived at 2140 nearly 3hours waiting but was to late to cancel and order somewhere else as we had waited so long. this place has been good in the passed but that night was awful. why take more orders if you cant handle the work load and make your other customers who ordered earlier wait nearly 3hours

To top it of I put a request in for some money back for late delivery and having to wait so long as it gave us that option on just eat to then hear back from the restaurant via just eat saying this

"The restaurant isn't going to give you any money back for your delayed order. They say: "We' rr really sorry your order wasn't delivered on time. We hope you enjoyed your food. ."

What a joke.. it wouldn't have hurt you to give us a partial refund back for the inconvenience and ruining...
