Before stumbling upon the Ship & Anchor Pub, I had never experienced such a delightful combination of charm and warmth in a pub setting. From the moment I walked through its doors, I was captivated by both its cozy ambiance and the friendly atmosphere that enveloped the place.
First and foremost, the staff at Ship & Anchor Pub deserve accolades for their outstanding service. They welcomed me with genuine smiles and made me feel instantly at ease. Their attentiveness, efficient order handling, and helpful suggestions regarding the vast array of beers and spirits were truly commendable. It was evident that the staff members love what they do, and it translated into an unparalleled customer experience.
The decor and layout of the pub are nothing short of exquisite. Ship & Anchor Pub has managed to strike a perfect balance between being a traditional British pub and a modern establishment, creating a unique and inviting environment. The wooden accents and vintage paraphernalia adorning the walls exuded a sense of nostalgia, while the comforting plush seating areas made it almost impossible to leave. Whether you're looking for a cozy corner to relax with friends or a lively spot to watch sports events, this pub has it all.
Now, let's talk about the main attraction: the food and beverage offerings. Ship & Anchor Pub boasts an impressive selection of drinks, from traditional ales to craft beers that cater to discerning palates. I was particularly enthralled by the variety of spirits available, and the skilled bartenders managed to whip up some of the finest cocktails I've ever tasted.
The pub's food menu was no less impressive. With a delightful combination of classic pub fare and international dishes, there's something to satisfy every craving. From juicy burgers to mouthwatering fish and chips, every dish was prepared with utmost care and attention to detail. I highly recommend trying their signature items, such as the Ship's Platter or the Beer-Battered Onion Rings - they are simply divine!
Further enhancing the experience at Ship & Anchor Pub are the regular events, live music performances, and pub quizzes. The pub has truly become a community hub, fostering a sense of camaraderie among its patrons. It is a testament to the dedication and passion of the owners and staff, who continuously go above and beyond to make every visit memorable.
In conclusion, Ship & Anchor Pub is a hidden gem that embodies everything a pub should be - a cozy haven with exceptional service, delightful drinks, and delectable food. Whether you're a local or just passing through, this pub is an absolute must-visit. Ship & Anchor Pub, thank you for the unforgettable experiences and for continuously creating an atmosphere that...
Read moreIf i could give zero stars I would. The experience was straight out of a Faulty towers episode - specifically the gourmet night episode. We simply poped in for a drink and a bite to eat. The only option was a roast as a Sunday and a clear sign at the bar saying walk ins welcome. We was offered 4 options and both opted for the pork. We paid for the meal and drinks and headed off to the table. 10 minutes later the young waiter come out to say the chef is to busy to do any more meals and said he will need to refund us. 5 minutes later he come back saying the Turkey was an option if we fancied it. We had already purchased a bag of crisps each after being told there was no food available and to be honest we didn't really fancy the turkey so continued with the refund offered. Around 20 minutes later we had finished our drinks and crisps and were just about to head off on our river walk back to Arundel, when 2 ladies on the table next to us ordered 2 Sunday roasts. I mentioned this to the waiter when we were leaving and he said Sunday roasts are back on now with options of Lamb, beef chicken or Turkey. This obviously left us completely confused and to be honest quite shocked why we couldn't get a roast dinner 30 minutes earlier. My wife and I although cross with the way we were treated at the ship and anchor did laugh all the way back to Arundel saying how much it is like an episode of faulty towers. On a more serious note if you are still reading this and thinking of going here for something to eat - DONT!! AVOID!! You will only be...
Read moreCan't fault the campsite or the manager - lovely quiet setting, excellent showers, clean toilets, washing facilities and a handy shop.
The pub was a different story however - was told I would be charged 50p unless I spent £10 on a card. Was then told food had stopped serving (no offer of a plate of chips or sandwich or anything even though the kitchen had only just closed), but was then told to move when I was sitting in the restaurant area as 'it was only for people eating food'. I think the irony of the situation went way over the landlady's head.
Was then told a a very abrupt 'NO' when I asked for the wi-fi password, as it was her personal one (God knows what she think people would do with it).
When wanting another beer at 10pm (I still hadn't spent my £10), myself and another punter were begrudgingly served it while being told that 'we normally close at 10pm'.
Finally, on my way out of the pub I went to use the toilet, I was told I wasn't allowed to and to 'use the campsite's toilet'.
All in all a terrible experience and for the following three days and nights I was there I used alternative...
