The Royal Oak — Restaurant in Arun

Unfortunately a really poor experience here today and due to the lack of resolving from the staff, I am leaving this review.

This pub was one of our favourites and we have food here multiple times and it has been lovely. Their other chef is amazing. However after having the roast dinner here today, it was incredibly disappointing. The food consisted of packet veg mixed together, a few soggy roast potatoes, beef and a Yorkshire. After being asked if it was okay, I had said we were really disappointed with the quality. The comment was quickly dismissed.

However when finding out that each meal was just under 15 quid each, we hadn’t been told the prices, I had said to staff that it wasn’t on - what was paid for such poor quality food. I’d expect better at whetherspoons. All three staff members were there and very dismissive with “the comments have been passed onto the chef”. The chef by the way who was the BOSS. Someone who should have been eager to sort the situation. I had made it clear I wasn’t happy and had explained why however it was clear no one wanted to resolve it or chat about it.

Unfortunately you have lost our customs and we won’t be coming back.

Went with my husband and his brother and his wife for a carvery as I'd seen them advertised on my way to work , we had eaten there before but it was run by different owners , we were met by the bar staff a lovely friendly lady she showed us to our table ,told we could go and get our food , the choice of meat were turkey, beef pork and I think gammon, and they don't scrimp on the slices either, the veg choice was a bit limited, cabbage , carrots and swede, we then went to get the most lovely crispy potatoes I've had I a long time .with Delicious gravy. The dessert menu was simple but we all chose apple crumble and custard and it was so nice , We shall definitely be going back there for our next family...

Had booked a table by phone yesterday, for today as I'd heard good things about the menu. After we had been directed by the lady at the bar to our table and had ordered and recieved our drinks we were told the lunch today is beef, pork or chicken. We were surprised to not have been offered any starters or to have the opportunity to choose anything other than a sunday lunch off the menu, we have never been anywhere before where this has happened.
