Avoid!! Went here for a roast dinner and a couple of children’s meals. Ordered a roast beef and was shocked when it arrived, there was 1 potato cut into 3 and half a carrot and half a parsnip & then some leak! I have never before finished a roast dinner when we go out, but I was still hungry afterwards & had a packet of crisps! The beef was ok, was quite fatty and very finely sliced and you only get 2 pieces, for £19 you expect more! I ordered my children the sausage and mash and pizza. The sausage and mash arrived, the sausage was ok and the mash was literally like glue, stuck together and lumpy! My daughter loves mash and wouldn’t touch it. The pizza ended up being the top half of a baguette with cheese and slices of tomato on it- for £7 😐 I have no words! The toilets, don’t get me started on this, they were disgusting. There was pee all over the toilet, on the lid, seat and floor, it was disgusting, and it was the only toilet working, so I had no choice but to clean it before my daughter used it. There are lots of staff behind the bar and in the restaurant area, the manager spends a lot of time walking around talking to people, when they should actually be checking these areas to make sure they are in good condition for their customers. I 100% would not...
Read moreI’m utterly disappointed and so annoyed at the service I received tonight. I’ve been going to the swan and dog for years regularly and have always highly recommended it to family and friends but tonight something had changed!!! It took 38 minutes for us to receive our drinks! We even received and finished our starters before we got them an I had to pester 3 different members of staff, including the manager who just seemed to look straight through me. No staff were there who we recognised - seemed to all be new and none of the waitresses seemed to know what they were even doing! Food came, average. No way as good standard as used to be. Brie was burnt on outside, my partners burger tasted “off” The lighting is always dim in the restaurant but tonight seemed even more appalling. The service we received tonight was disgusting, not even an apology for the slow service. Had to ask for bill twice and even go up to bar to pay after waiting for 20 minutes for them to bring the card machine ever. Couldn’t wait to get out! Would definitely not go back if can help it! Seriously re-consider - Shepherd Neame have...
Read moreWe dined here with friends on a Friday night (pre-booked)and what a lovely local pub in Ashford it is. The staff were attentive, friendly and informative on their menu when questioned. Or meal choices did not disappoint. The chilli beef ( not hot) nachos for starters were amazingly tasty and a large portion, enough for two really. The lightly fried brie was nicely crunchy and the cheese melted on the tongue, side salad was fresh. Our mains of 3 belly porks were amazing, laid on a bed of deliciously creamy mash and green cabbage, topped with the wonderful crackling. Our friends agreed who'd chosen the same . I had scampi, chips, fresh salad and homemade slaw which again was very nice. Dessert for 2 people was a chocolate brownie and ice-cream...yum! Didn't need it after the the two courses but was a naughty treat. Sorry no pic, but our friends devoured it quickly and said it was moist and chocolatey and the combination was fantastic. All washed down with various tipples. We'll definitely...
