OMG!!! What an horrendous shock!! We had a tiny rump steak and oven chips with a bit of lettuce on the side for £22 each which was ok if you didn't use the burn the roof of your mouth peppercorn sauce but not worth the money
However worst of all we ordered the £33 per bottle English Rose chapel down wine only to find we were charged £66 for the sparkling version when our bill came!!!!
Who in their right minds would order a bottle that costs £35-39 in the shops for £66!!!!!
Immediately we queried this with our hoody sweatshirt wearing waiter (who runs the place!!!) who'd brought us the wrong bottle out but to our utter disgust he gave NO APOLOGY AT ALL OR ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF HIS MISTAKE!!!
He simply said this one has bubbles in it & we said but we asked for the English rose one & pointed to the £33 on your menu when we asked you for it So assumed you knew which bottle cost £33!!!
He robbed us blind & we can only assume does this all the time to other ppl so BEWARE!!!!
We obviously then asked him to remove his £12.60 service charge but our bill still came to £63 each for a cheap bit of steak and oven chips plus an apple crumble and custard & a bottle of wine we clearly didn't order!!!
PLEASE BE AWARE OF THIS AS THE WAITER WAS ALSO THE LANDLORD!! SO DONT GET RIPPED OFF LIKE WE DID!!! HE KNEW HE GAVE US A MORE EXPENSIVE WINE THAN WE ORDERED BUT DIDNT CARE SO IT MIGHT BE A REGULAR OCCURANCE BASED BY HIS ATTITUDE TO OUR COMPLAINT
Absolutely no attempt at any resolution or money off or basic manners that he got the wrong wine bottle to the one we asked for at £33!!!!!!
Utterly shocked!!!!! So disgusted I mean if your mark up is £29 from supermarket prices & indeed chapel downs own website why would he think we wanted to pay £66 for a bottle of wine when we pointed to the £33 & called it the English rose as per thier menu!!!
His error but he didn't care just was rude as hell cos we told he to remove the tip due to his mistake and zero attempt to apologise of rethink the bill total
Let this be a warning to other ppl who cannot afford to be scammed like us in this blatantly rude way Still shocked by the landlord's lack of care about his mistake!!
Hardly the way to treat decent hard working customers! Mistakes happen but as this was his mistake we shouldn't have had to pay the difference and at very least had an apology not the sarcastic "this one has bubbles in" comment that we got!!
Surely a landlord should know which bottle was the £33 one we asked for!!
Let this be a warning to other decent people and avoid being scammed like this into buying wine you...
Read moreA friend that I meet up with once a month with, and I, came to the Bull Inn on September 20th. We loved the sofa by the fireside, but were told that the fire wasn't on as there was a bird's nest in it. But it would be being cleared soon.
We wanted to book the same table by the fire, and the sofa for October 20th, but as the chef was having a baby, and staff would also be off for 2 weeks, we had to liaise several times on the fone, and didn't come in October, as the happy occasion re the bubba occurred, so the pub was closed.
We had booked ahead for November 20th, on September 20th, that very table and sofa by the fire place with the open fire, as by then the chef would have had the baby.
I had confirmed our booking last week to be on the safe side. Manda and I arrived yesterday. Sat down. We instantly saw that the fire wasn't lit. We asked a female member of staff why. And first she said that they hadn't been able to get any logs for the fire, so it was out of the question that we could get it lit. And then she told us that they had expected a delivery of logs today that never came.
We ended up Googling another local pub that did have a fire and had a lovely rest of the night there. With fab food.
I can't believe that we had this booking for 8 weeks, and looked so forward to it and confirmed the table/location several times, but the main feature wasn't as promised when we arrived. Terribly disappointing. And utterly unprofessional.
When Manda and I meet up, once a month, we are together for 8.5 or 9.5 hours, and eat/drink as we chat/catch up. So this is phenomenal, guaranteed business for the pub/restaurant we visit. So the Bull Inn has just lost approx £1,200, conservatively.
We quite naturally, will never visit...
Read moreMy mother & I attended today for lunch, we ordered & paid for our drinks & then enquired about food. The barman then tells us that due to a party of 35 coming Food would be a long wait. I explained that he should have stated this before we ordered our drinks, to which he stumbled his words & said “yes perhaps I should have done”! He then said he has crisps for sale!!!!! We would not have stayed by just having a drink, & had we been told that no food was available we would have gone elsewhere. However due to now having to consume our paid for drinks we witnessed other people paying for drinks first & then being refused food! Not being informed of the food situation. How can a party of 35 grind a pub to a halt like this not giving any consideration to other customers !! It was 12.20 when we walked in & this party of 35 were not even present!!! I fully demand a refund on our drinks & expect...
