Had the full English Breakfast at Sams Diner, what a feast. Just under £9. 3 bacon, 3 sausage, 2 eggs, hashbrown, beans, tomatoes. I skipped on the black pudding. 2 slices of toast and a cup of coffee. Cooked to order so it was piping hot when the plate hit the table. Seating inside or you can eat in your car/van/lorry in the lay-by if you prefer. Staff are pleasant and polite and will engage in conversation unlike some other pit stops where they just take your money and shove the food at you. Lay-by is big enough for around 4 artics and a good view of the road on entry and exit make it safe enough to pull in and out in plenty of time. Northbound on the M1 get off at J35a and you can get back on at J36. Give this place a go, I've eaten in a few layby cafes and this one is up there in my opinion. If this review was informative enough for you give it a thumbs up for others.

2nd visit in 7 days. Used to come here years ago then stopped. When passing last week I noticed it had been demolished and rebuilt. 2nd visit now and the food is great. Breakfasts are all cooked fresh and are of good quality. Best back bacon. HP beans ect. There is so much room here now. There is air con for the hot summers days and it is hot enough in winter. Wheel chair accessable. Toilet outside and a seating area but I wouldn't use it until summer. Prices are reasonable, portions are good. I have had a small breakfast each time now and with toast and coffee it was well enough for me and I am no midget. If your passing, give it a go. It is so much better than most roadside cafes.

Lovely sausage and tomatoes sandwiches. Reasonable prices. You can pull into the layby and park while eating in or getting take out. Food prepared pretty quick. It always seems to be open whenever I drive past and it always has customers which is a good sign.

You really want my views, I left 1 star and no comment as that's how I felt, so now here it is for everyone to read.... The owner / person serving was rude, unkempt and gave the impression he really didn't care, the food we bought was sub par at best and as for the drinks, they were asked for a particular way and we were told 'I've been doing this 27 years' but hey... You're not drinking it and what happened to the customer's always right! (P.s. no kittens were harmed in the writing of this review)

........Previous Response from the owner. Thank you for your indepth and articulate review , i would imagine it will be widely read and talked about .won'tont keep you any longer as im sure that you have some kittens...
