Saffron Lounge — Restaurant in Sheffield

We ordered a meal for three persons Sunday 13/11/22 staff on phone was very polite & informed me that the waiting time for delivery was 1hour, this was fine with me as I don't think its out of the ordinary. The price per adult was £12 at £36 for the three of us. The portions were as per usual with other takeaways & wasn’t hot but hot enough? However the two kormas didn't have much meat, more sauce than chicken, lamb & a lot of sauce wasted, I had the mixed Tandoori Balti, the chicken in the meal was fine but there were 5 pieces of meat that was very stringy & unchewable & unedable & was left on the side of the plate. Wasn’t impressed with the overall meal or the price, it certainly wasn't worth the £36.10p. If the meal was of a standard where you really enjoy it & the meat within the meal is of good quality & less sauce to hide the fact that there isn't much meat then I would always gladly pay more for my food but when you don't enjoy the food, that's when I say I would not have payed that price for the quality we received for that meal. 25/11/2023 UPDATE on a second review with Saffron Lounge, I phoned at 5.30PM 25/11/2023 & placed an order for delivery for 6.30pm, at 7.00pm still no food so I called them & for some reason they assumed that the order for delivery was at 6.30 was the call & they had the delivery down for 7.30, by now I had gone elsewhere for food & left them to carry out their delivery for 7.30 & turned it away. We will never order from this useless establishment again. Steer clear of this takeaway...

This is the 3rd time we have ordered from here. The first time we collected our order, the second time we had it delivered with no issues. This third time has been an absolute joke! Placed the order at 6:20pm and was advised it would be 1 hour. The man on the phone was mishearing everything I said and I repeated my address and telephone number over and over again. He eventually read everything back to me and I was happy everything was right. Fast forward 1hour and 30 minutes and I called the restaurant back for an update. I was spoken to in a very rude manner by somebody on the phone who basically told me (in a raised voice) my postcode was wrong (it obviously is not, I know my own address, and they have delivered here before with no issues) and that I’d given them a wrong number? I did not appreciate the way I was being spoken to at all and felt uncomfortable so I put my partner on the phone who was spoken to in a much better manner. He corrected the phone number they’d clearly written down wrong and confirmed the address, they said they would re-deliver in 15-20 minutes. We called back again after this time when the food still hadn’t been delivered and was told our order was out for delivery. Somebody called just after this to say he was here with our food… in hilsborough! We do not live in hilsborough! They do not listen to the information you give them then try to blame you for it. Will not be ordering again or recommending to anyone, which is a shame as the food is very decent… when...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Saffron Lounge, High Green for my Mum’s 80th Birthday and it exceeded all expectations. From the moment we walked in, the warm and inviting ambiance set the tone for a memorable evening.

The service was impeccable. The Staff are not only attentive and knowledgeable about the menu but also genuinely friendly, making excellent recommendations based on our preferences. Each dish arrived promptly, and the staff made sure we were comfortable and well taken care of throughout the meal.

Now, onto the highlight—the food. Every dish was bursting with authentic flavours, crafted with care and attention to detail. The Lamb Rogan Josh (recommended by Sal) was outstanding — it had a delightful balance of aromatic spices and tender Lamb, while the garlic naan was fresh and fluffy, perfect for soaking up the sauces. Every dish felt like a celebration of Indian cuisine, with generous portions and a beautiful presentation. The Birthday Cake that the staff presented to my Mum was the icing on the cake (so to speak) and a lovely surprise for Mum.
