My friend and I decided to go out for lunch today and decided to go to he Potting Shed which looked very welcoming. It was a lovely day so we sat outside. We ordered our food, one chicken salad with bacon, croutons and parmesan and a cous cous and goats cheese salad with vegetables.

Our expectations were far from the reality of the 'lack lustre' garbage presented to us both. The chicken was fresh as was the cous cous but we would question on which day previously they had been fresh!

Our complaints were met with derision and the staff ( 2 of them) both insisted that the dishes were made fresh to order. Well then how did the chicken end up brown and dried out and the cous cous crusted over, what little there was of it….. pretty poor stuff which sadly was left un eaten.

The salad part of both offerings were miserable and my dish was drenched in an unpalatable dressing and by the way, if they had run out of goat's cheese it would have been polite to say so. Also the Parmesan cheese was totally absent from the stale chicken salad.

Overall - rubbish and we will not be...

Booked for Mothers Day meal for myself and my daughter. We arrived for the "second sitting" at 3pm and staff were just setting up the tables. We checked in and were told we were sitting at the bottom of the steps in, what looked like, its normally the "dog cafe". We were very disappointed and I spoke with staff and asked if we could be seated upstairs. We were told that all tables for 2 were in that area and that diners with dogs, at the side of us, would soon be leaving. We had no other option but to sit there. It smelled of damp dog, and was very draughty, as we were literally next to the entrance. The table was very wobbly, and although someone came twice with wedges, we had to balance it throughout the meal. The staff were friendly, as they always are, and the food was ok, but if we had been told about this seating arrangement when I booked, then we would have gone elsewhere, Very...

We needed somewhere for lunch on our drive up to the seaside and stumbled across the Potting Shed. Unlike the name suggests, this is not a small shed but a huge, comfortable restaurant and cafe located in a large converted farmyard barn. The inside is simply stunning and worth a visit if you're into interior decoration or are considering converting an old building.

The quality of the food also matches the interior and you can expect locally sourced products, cooked to perfection and served with a smile. The staff were genuinely super - efficient and professional, and were able to cope with the wide mix of customers. There were young mothers with prams, older couples, large families and dog walkers and yet everyone had plenty of space in the different rooms and everybody was welcomed....

Great little place, with good food and a chilled atmosphere, staff and people were friendly, was it worth it? So 2 kids, 2 adults, £45, but when you consider we had 3 bowls of chips, with dips, 4 drinks and 4 generous portions of cake each, I'd say absolutely! Better than a Starbucks any day. I feel we should shift our perception from thinking an evening meal should be the most expensive meal, and that anything relaxed, safe for kids and an enjoyable experience is definitively worth a trip out. Finally, the Christmas decor was fab, and I did enjoy taking photos of the decorations, ducks and geese.

Today I visited with a group of friends, we pre booked a table and Holly made sure it was easily accessible for a pram and 5 people. This going above and beyond service is exactly what you need in hospitality. I had an iced oat vanilla latte and an eggs Benedict and it was perfect, with short waiting time. The rest of the group all had different items and again not a single complaint or crumb left. The other girl who served us was polite and attentive throughout. Would recommend and will be coming back to try lunch next time and maybe a gelato!
