Costa Coffee — Restaurant in Basildon

Although this place has Costa emblazoned everywhere, when I went to use my costa app, I was very curtly told by the miserable member of staff ‘we’re not a costa, there’s a sign somewhere’ Found the sign, tiniest sign saying this is not a costa and if I keep my receipt I can redeem my points. I was then kept waiting for my two drinks as they’d forgotten to make them, finally got them after asking where they were and I left without receipts! Checked my daughter in a & e was ok, went back for receipts. Saw same miserable server and was told rudely ‘you didn’t ask for your receipts!’ I replied I wasn’t given them and didn’t know I had to ask, she repeated the same, ‘you didn’t ask for your receipts’, to which I explained, I need my receipts to be able to redeem my points, I’d like a receipt please. She stropped off and handed me two random receipts. I genuinely don’t know why this woman is working there, she clearly doesn’t enjoy her job as her attitude sucks, a little customer service training wouldn’t go amiss lady with the blonde hair and glasses. Absolute shambles, the lack of food produce was disappointing. The lack of knowledge about drinks was ridiculous. The only cup size available was a small, the server Jennie was rude & unorganised. When I asked for a glass cup to drink my latte in she was very confrontational. I wanted to eat & drink inside with my son who is currently in hospital & wanted to escape the ward for a while. This is probably the reason there are no takeaway cup sizes because nobody is asked if they’re drinking inside or take away. Customers were taking their own drinks because the staff were very unorganised & weren’t following any sort of system. This is truest the worst Costa I’ve ever been to, considering this is based on a hospital site the staff should be more considerate of customers choosing to spend...

Great place for a Costa, service could be a lot better though!

This is very handy to have at the hospital, but most of the times I've visited, I've been met with miserable-looking staff. One particular lady has proven to be rude and unhelpful on at least 2 occasions and a man there saw me and my friends coming in and immediately turned around so he didn't have to serve us. I think management need to take a look into this and consider better-mannered staff!

The drinks I order are usually well made, however and taste lovely. I do choose takeaway every time though as I'd rather not sit in and have to deal with a dull atmosphere.

I will continue to visit this branch when needed, but it would not be my first choice and I'd rather use the hospital canteen if I see that particular lady...
