'Feb '24- Friday breakfast - large (£7.99) & classic (£5.49) b/fast. Good portions.( Not excessive). Quality sausage. fFiter coffee @£2 with free refills ( same for tea). Sadly no decaff coffee or poached egg options - minor critique all things considered. Shout out for good service to Steven Harrison & Rachel k. Thurs evening rib & rump option on the platters- good portion of food , really well cooked steak ( top tip - put the steak on top of your other food to prevent it cooking more , if you want med. rare ) Pleasant staff.good beer. busy on a Tuesday. Parking isn't the best. '23- Good sized portions, plenty of sharing plates etc. Sadly, anyone wanting a med. rare steak may be disappointed.. as I found out the hard way , a sizzling platter continues to cook the food despite positioning it on top of the chicken breast it came with ;( However , apparently they do a breakfast ( full English?) in the morning s . I did not know that ! Update - Dec '22 Typical standard pub interior.Staff are happy, keen & go far beyond the job requirements ! Food is good, but again, standard fare. Recommended

Me and my boyfriend come every week and it’s really nice food, however this one time we went we waited and hour which a member of staff did tell us there was a wait however when waited for an hour we expect good quality food which is not what we got!! I had steak which i picked medium rare and it well done which i couldn’t stand to eat. I also ordered pepperoni sauce which the lady said she was going to bring 10 mins later my boyfriend had to go to the bar to remind them as there behind bar talking!!! When that came it was luke warm!! We was really disappointed. it didn’t even look very busy we have came at busier times and haven’t waited an hour

Although the food seemed OK the seasoned fries were not seasoned. The cleanliness of this place is atrocious. Who knows what the kitchen is like if this is what they show customers. The tables.....filthy sticky, my goodness get some hot soapy water and clean them. The teapot......filthy just looked like it had been used but not washed. The milk jug......wow this only had milk in but looked tea stained inside, the outside....well look at the pictures with this review. The tea cup.......Black bits stuck to the inside.

Eating here right now, and the food was standard nothing special not on any front. Orded for 2 adults and a toddler. The service is really where it stands out, as before ordering I asked how long the wait for food is and informed there wasn't any but this led to a 30 minute wait and upon asking multiple times I was informed it was just plating up. High chairs couldn't find a clean one, ended up cleaning 3 as two of them were broken. Then when our food finally arrived the managed that I had ordered with informed me there was no garlic bread in the building I asked if there wasn't any when I ordered and was informed there wasn't but a table that ordered after me received there Garlic bread. Had a really good experience here with another manager running the show but this manager. Also hearing staff arguing about cleaning tables and not doing other tasks was definitely off putting. Won't be coming back as after the first time everything has definitely gone down hill.

Update 25th August 2025 Popped in with the family and the wait for food wasn't to bad, quality has changed unfortunately with steaks taking the brunt of that hit. Everything was mostly going ok until the floor staff forgot to bring out little ones 'build your own ice cream' after 10mins I popped over to the floor staff and asked about it, was informed they would bring it out asap, another 10mins later and I went to the same lady that informed me there was a delay as they have run out of strawberry's. I informed her that we would have it without the strawberry's which was understood. Another 10mins later we had to ask the bar staff to chase as the floor staff was just avoiding us, during this conversation a member of the kitchen team popped up and told us the delay was because no strawberry's, to which we reiterated that we would have it without. Subsequently the bar staff fetched it promptly for us. Tried again and to be let down on ice-cream which would take a max of 5 minutes to prepare, not 30mins. For reference when ordering the pub was 30% full.

Reply 25th August So just ensure that having to chase for an item that was requested on the app to be provided at the same time is protocol and having to do so on multiple occasions is exceptable.

With regards to language used about there being no strawberry's upon the 3rd time of providing the information that we will have it without the strawberry's, this was an annoying and stressfull especially having to repeat but no profanity was directed at your staff just the situation. If you have been informed otherwise then please check CCTV to corroborate.

Sorry your team member felt this this way but I can assure you that they didn't remove themselves from service as whilst we requested 2 additional times this staff member was still providing floor service for the kitchen. Apologies if this situation upset your team member but trying to make this situation out to be worse then it was is not professional but once again please check CCTV as I believe you have some at the bar.

Wishing you the best and hope you have a good...

There was an issue yesterday with the service which led me to swear when speaking to staff, however, I did not aim this or target this at staff it was said in frustration, and which my partner has since apologised on my behalf.

However the assistant manager is struggling to understand how this frustrating came about.

It was simply because we were waiting 35-40 minutes give or take on a bowl of ice cream.

The assistant manager has in multiple review responses said the average time for wait for food is 20-25 minutes, so this was above that, however this was not our issue.

The issue was all the food was requested to come out at the same time, however only 2 meals arrived and we were not informed of a delay or any issues with the missing food.

5 times we had to speak to someone to get this food delivered, this was on a space of 5-10 minutes while our food sat on the table so we could eat as a family.

My partner spoke twice to the girl in the red top and was told in the first instance she would bring it out, then when it didn't arrive she said it was because there was no strawberries to which he responded that is not a problem we just want the ice cream.

Still nothing arrived, I spoke to the girl in the red top she told me I had to speak to someone at the bar. I spoke to the bar staff who told me there was an issue with the ticket machine. A kitchen staff member came out and I spoke to them and they said there was no strawberries. By this time I was frustrated and dropped the f bomb.

But please Whitney tell me... How many people I should of spoken to before getting my food delivered? How else should I have chased down my missing order when no one came to our table to communicate to us? How long should I have sat there waiting for my order to be delivered whilst the food just sat on the table.

It wasn't as clear cut as me swearing at a staff member which I didn't do. The lack of decent customers service and communication is to blame here.

And I don't blame the staff I blame the management for their poor lack of training and their lack of staffing.

The poor girl in the red top was running around on her own and this really can't be good for her wellness, the company should really review this.

We have no plans to return to this establishment again.

You are failing to understand that your action let to the frustrating situation and you seem to be offering no...

Sharp Metal Object In Child's Food! BEWARE - I've also posted this and a picture on Trip Advisor to warn people. That review has a picture to show the metal in the food.

Our family visited this pub/restaurant on Thursday 9th July 2015. My six year old son had beans as part of his dish and my mother in law noticed that he was making an odd noise, as if he was in pain and then he pulled something out of his mouth. It was a two inch long, sharp metal spiral. My son said that he nearly swallowed it but it jabbed him in the side of his mouth (thankfully!). The staff took details and said that a manager from Mitchell's & Butlers (the owners of the pub chain) would be in touch soon. It spoilt the meal and really scared my son. It took M&B's Food Safety Department over a month to reply with an almost generic response about not being able to isolate the cause of the issue and offering us a £25 voucher to dine in one of their pubs/restaurants again. Seriously, who would want to risk eating in place that can't guarantee that there won't be sharp metal lurking in their food? Their lack of caring and the lack sincerity within their email show's how little they must think about the safety of their customers. I've literally just had a final call from the Mitchell & Butler Food Safety team who said that if I wanted to pursue this any further then I would have to speak to a solicitor. They also said their PR team would be ready to respond....
