I was really looking forward to my visit to The Boathouse: it fitted every thing I was looking forward - close to our rental, a menu to suit everyone, a pleasant location and dog friendly. It was also the planned venue for a belated celebration for my Mum's 88th birthday as the family had come together. |When we arrived our server was friendly and a drinks order was taken. No one asked if there were any food allergies and I asked a questions about a couple things on the menu as I am allergic to alcohol. The question was answered but with a worrying comment - the chef said tell her it won't matter anyway as the alcohol will burn off and it will be ok". I was reassured that the dishes I chose did not contain alcohol which was a nice surprise as mushroom soup can often contain white wine.|We ordered and the starters came - It was at best OK. Not what I was expecting after the comments about local produce but something that looked and tasted like it had come out of a packet - if it didn't then I would be very surprised. Things didn't get any better we then waited an hour for our second course and it only arrived when a person that looked like a chef was behind the counter with the bar staff was asked by me when we could expect our food. With a couple of minutes two dishes arrived at our table - looking dry and very unappetising. Mine was the fish pie and it looked overcooked and very dry. At this point I just politely said I am unable to eat this and please take the food back, my mother's pie looked equally unappealing . We paid for what we had eaten and left. No apology was given about the wait or the state of the food which had obviously been sitting around as it was so quick to come out after the chef had been spoken too.||I was beyond disappointed and would not recommend this restaurant. ||The restaurant was not busy, there appeared to be no leadership in the venue, very young staff and exceptionally poor quality of food. ||Some people seemed to have had good experiences at this restaurant but as a family we were not in this group - added to the disappointment this was the one evening the family was able to come together from different locations so not only was the food poor the celebration was not as good as it...

I have still heard no response from an email I sent to you on the 12th July 2025, expressing our dissatisfaction regarding a recent incident involving a double booking of our hotel room at the hotel on 27th June 2025.||My friend and I had a confirmed booking for two nights, which we secured through Booking.com. After a long week at work, we embarked on a four-hour drive from Kent to Bath, eagerly anticipating a well-deserved weekend escape. Upon our arrival at The Boat House at approximately 8:00 pm, we were looking forward to checking in and relaxing. However, our experience took a troubling turn when we were informed at check-in that there was no reservation under our name, and the hotel was fully booked.||This revelation was particularly disconcerting, as we had received a confirmation email from Booking.com asserting that our booking was firm and that my credit card had guaranteed the reservation. Initially, the manager on duty that evening was apologetic and assured us that they would seek alternative accommodation at another hotel and cover the associated costs. Unfortunately, the situation deteriorated when the manager encountered significant difficulties in contacting local hotels and subsequently stated that he would consult with the off-site manager for further instructions.||Matters worsened when we were informed that you would no longer accept responsibility for our predicament, leaving us to find alternative lodging at 9:00 pm. This was an incredibly frustrating and stressful situation. We eventually managed to secure a booking at the Apex Hotel, which not only came at a significant additional cost but was also accompanied by further parking charges. This accommodation did not provide the calm riverside experience we had hoped for, and we regrettably missed out on the relaxing evening we had planned for our first night.||Subsequently, we have been in contact with Booking.com, who have reimbursed us for part of the additional costs incurred. However, we feel compelled to highlight the lack of care and consideration afforded to us as customers in resolving an issue that was not...

I row with Minerva Bath Rowing Club next door. Lots of us come in for coffee after we've been rowing.

I'm leaving a public review today after speaking with staff about the sadly disappointing very poor and poorly organised service this morning which wasn't properly acknowledged or dealt with.

Four of us arrived at just before 11am. There was a short queue and we ordered x4 hot drinks at 11:02 - (all on one order which was easily distinguishable) - a pot of breakfast tea, one cappuccino, one americano, one oat latte. I was asked what table we were on and said we hadn't found one yet but would be out on the terrace. (They put no 55 on the order, we ended up sat next to that at no 57). Yes, the place was busy, but there were plenty of staff on, they just needed to be better managed and directed, and orders dealt with properly and sequentially and taken to the right tables.

Lots of orders did come out. Including one that looked like ours, and we asked if it was but were told not (it was Earl Grey tea and two lattes). It very quickly became apparent that orders were being got wrong and brought to the wrong tables. It happens. But not on the scale it was this morning.

After 20 minutes someone from our table went to check and was told our order was on its way. 15 minutes later, when others around use who arrived much later than us got their's, we went to ask again and again we were abruptly told it was coming. No apology. 10 minutes later we asked again and were told "they'd check".

After 50 minutes I went to check. The order was found in the very big pile of supposedly completed orders and the only explanation I was offered was that it must have been "taken" by another table. No real apology or response. I explained that two of us were having to leave and you did refund me, thank you, but that's not the point - we came in for a coffee and ended up leaving after an hour with none.

Clearly communication about orders and which tables they were for broke down. It's easy to get wrong, it...

Much has changed internally since this was part of the Smiles Brewery stable. A completely rearranged seating arrangement from the pre-pandemic era. The loo's especially have been refitted and now, like other areas, have mock-Georgian panels that look quite effective. There's money well spent here. I was here for a light lunch and chose from the Nibbles, Starters and Sharing menu. The Severn & Wye Smoked Salmon dish was exquisite. Well presented and a subtle yoga exercise for the tastes buds. It left me hungry for more and I followed this with Smoked Duck Salad, which can also be had as a Main and would be better as such. The Casque-Mark accreditation has disappeared, but the beer was still in noble condition and really needed a follow up....or two. Good outside seating when the weather allows, with views of the Avon flowing gently past. The prime position sun terrace tables become 'Reserved very early, forward planning is required if one wants to be in the place to be. The staff are young, keen clearly customer focused and swift. Holly, doing an excellent front of house roll, was particularly attentive and helpful. This made for a very agreeable lunch. Plenty of parking - it's adjacent to the Newbridge Park-&-Ride a short walk, if the pubs extensive car park is full.

Started out great for our birthday meal, was sat next to the fire in a lovely bar area. It wasn't busy yet we were waiting for our food for 50 minutes. I ordered the steak Frites and asked medium well and was looking forward to the slices of flat iron steak. What arrived was a huge lump, actual ball lump of steak not cut and was so thick I knew straight away it would not be medium well. Cutting into it my plate became a slick of blood mixing with the salad dressing and the meat was so raw in the middle I felt queasy, I could only eat a few mouth fills. My dad who thought I was being fussy too the steak (used to be a butcher) and even he exclaimed how bad and gristly the steak was. At this point we had arrived at 7 and it was about 9, was no point in asking it to go back. Would not come here again. Added star as apple pie was nice The walk to the restaurant in the dark in wet leaves was extremely hazardous for my parents, It was pitch black in places which is such an oversight

Booked in for an overnight stay to Bath. With the lovely weather, the views of the river & country were stunning. We were booked in by Holly, very friendly & helpful (gave us great directions for a river walk into Bath). We arrived in the afternoon, settled into our lovely room until dinner in the pub downstairs. The vegan burger was very nice with skin on chips. We also had the double bacon cheese burger, very tasty. For dessert we had the sticky toffee pudding & for the vegan option we went with was deep filled Apple pie with vanilla ice cream. We also mistakenly ordered the vegan salted caramel ice cream on the side which was gorgeous (butterscotch angel delight taste), this was ordered in error & complimented which was fantastic. In the morning we had the cooked breakfast. The full English was really nice, the vegan option was exceptional, easy 8/10. The staff were all very friendly & welcoming. Just a heads up, the hotel & bar are card only.
