This was my first visit to Camille Thai after hearing lots of good reports. However it took over 5 minutes for anyone to show up at the counter to take our order after the two chefs stood looking at us. They looked as confused as we were that there was no staff. So we sat down thinking maybe they will come to the table. Only for a member of staff to appear at the till and becon is over to make our order only for us to have to go back to the table and sit down again (confusing right!?). Seems badly organised and frustrating to get served. The food did arrive quickly once we ordered it and it was delicious. I ordered PhadThai which was served with chicken and prawn. Freshly cooked and very warm when it arrived at the table. Perfect! The own branded lemonade wasn’t great so would avoid that in the future. Would prefer to order for delivery in future just to avoid the staffing issues.

The welcome was warm, and I applaud their ethical intentions. However, the food was disappointing. The Tiffin box we had was nice, although the spicing on the sticky wings was overly aggressive the spring rolls and skewers were nicely balanced. The mains suffered from a one dimensional monotony I don't associate with Thai food, which was unfortunate. Other menu items could be great, based on the flavours in the Tiffin box, but I'm not sure that I'll be finding out in a hurry.

Will not order from again and would not give 1 star if possible. Placed an order at 6:50pm with estimated delivery of 7:55-8:15pm. At 8:50pm the restaurant called me to say the delivery drivers car had broken down and another driver was coming, so it could be up to another 30 mins. At 9:40pm I called to say it still hadn’t arrived and was told it could be another 30mins. At 10:10pm I called to say it still hadn’t arrived and I wanted a full refund as I wasn’t paying for food that never came. The manager laughed down the phone that it wasn’t his problem and asked ‘do you want the food or not’. I said I had no interest in eating dinner 3 and half hours after ordering and to cancel it and provide a full refund. He took my order number and confirmed I would be refunded, again laughed down the phone and said ‘enjoy your food’.

The food never arrived. The next morning I received a text from just eat saying ‘ The restaurant isn't going to give you any money back for your delayed order. They say: "We're really sorry your order wasn't delivered on time. We hope you enjoyed your food."’ So they attempted to charge me for food I didn’t receive. I managed to get a resolution through just eat to process a refund but would not recommend this restaurant or plan to order again. Had they called me once the order had been placed to make me aware that delivery wasn’t possible and unless I could collect they would need to cancel the order, that would have been fine - these things happen! But to not even contact me until nearly 2 hours after placing the order, to keep saying it’ll be another 30 mins and another 30 mins and to then attempt to charge me for food I never received after confirming I would be refunded is horrendous service. The manager tried to offer a free starter for ‘next time’ as if you would go near it again...

This is the email I sent Camile after a collection that was suppose to be a Mother’s Day weekend treat:

I arrived on time as was told it would be 5 minutes which is fine as the food should then be freshly cooked. When it was ready the mango rice pudding was added from the fridge.

When I got home to eat shortly after the crispy chilli chicken seemed dry, chewy and overcooked or re-cooked. The pot didn’t have any of the “zesty sweet chilli sauce” because it had all been soaked into the chicken batter. So this was £9.99 for dry chewy chicken.

Then to make things worse the pudding which I was looking forward to as usual, despite having a date on it for next month it was off. The mango sauce was totally fermented.

Camile food is expensive but so far I have tried one delivery which arrived cold, and another order with a massaman curry with dry or overcooked beef.

This is now the third time there has been a quality issue and for the price of the food it is really disappointing.

Jenny replied “Thanks for reaching out. At Camile, we pride ourselves in our food and customer experience here at Camile so it's unacceptable for you to experience this at your local Ballyhackamore branch on the 18th of March. We plan to get in touch with the manager to see who prepared your meal to ensure we can make sure they're trained up to our standards of service.”

Thanks Jenny, that may help other customers but you didn’t even offer to refund the desert that wasn’t fit for consumption and they should surely know to provide the...

I was very fortunate to be invited along to the pre launch testing and tasting at Camile Thai Ballyhackamore.

I’m a huge fan of Camile Thai and have dined at the other location on the Lisburn Road. The concept is freshly prepared high quality and very authentic Thai food. This is evident from the decor to displays to the menu.

On arrival I was warmly welcomed and given the menu. The deal was to order off the menu and for the team to cook, pack and Despatch the food. It was very busy and all 20 odd staff must have been there prepping, cooking, and packing as well as hosting!!

I went for starters of chicken skewers (4), hot chicken wings (9) and crispy pork belly (lots). It took about 15 minutes to cook and took me about 15 to get home and the food was still piping hot!!

The battered dishes were served on crispy vermicelli and sweet chilli dipping sauce. The batter was crispy and full of flavour. The crispy vermicelli was a great touch. The skewers were very moist and full of satay flavour.

For mains I ordered Pad King Prawns with Jasmine Rice and chicken chu Chee curry with Jasmine rice. The chicken was very spicy and both dishes were beautiful. The pad prawns were distinctly flavoured with fish sauce and wonderful. If anything maybe the portion size was a bit small.

There are fresh juices and drinks on display and plenty of offers to avail. This is definitely a superb addition to ‘Bally-Snack-amor’

Big thank you to the staff and management for the kind invite and...
