Ritchies — Restaurant in Belfast

Staff were lovely and quick service. Unfortunately not to Ritchie's that I knew years ago. Although the fish tasted good, the fish was paper thin. Looks like a huge fish but sadly mostly batter 🙁 Edit in response to reply from owner. I didn't realise that Ritchie's had changed ownership on many occasions over the past 20 years and It is good to hear that you value quality, however, paper thin cod is not quality. Cod is not a thin fish so perhaps it would be better not to slice it so thinly and make the area size smaller would help. I don't think anyone expects more batter than fish. I have provided photos and I am sure that you will agree (although not publicly) that this isn't really what you strive to achieve in your chip shop. This an honest review and I do realise that it is difficult run a business in the current climate but by not acknowledging that things can and do go wrong does not help your business. Ritchies deserves a 6 star rating! Our family of 5 was visiting Belfast and we decided on takeaway for dinner as we were staying close by. Upon arrival the owner greeted us and immediately walked us through the menu and the ordering process. We felt extremely welcomed and all of our needs were catered too. The father and son business had been in operation for 20 years and I can see why. All our meals were cooked to perfection! The portions were huge and the price was bang on! FANTASTIC fish and chips. Everything shatteringly crisp but still soft on the inside, not greasy at all😍 Offered me salt and vinegar on the fish and chips and gave me Ketchup when requested (which was delicious...is Irish Ketchup just better or was this homemade?) I am an American tourist and he was so funny and nice to me when I had a bit of a slip up and asked for something by the wrong name, then gave me a bottle of it for free! Such a nice guy.
