Butties Cafe — Restaurant in Birmingham

The whole thing was a shambles from the moment we arrived. There was about 5 members of staff behind the counter but only 2 of them were actually working. One of them was just eating and staring. Only one person actually spoke to us while the others just stood there staring. The guy who served us was the only friendly person working there. The lady cooking accidentally put brown sauce instead of red which was fine, she changed it for us. When we left, she hadn’t put any sauce on at all. Went back in, the guy was friendly and helpful and gave us some sauce but the lady was making snarky comments behind the counter trying to say she put it on the bottom when the sandwich was just dry and plain. Not even an apology. Her mannerism wasn’t great for someone who’s in hospitality. We felt really uncomfortable and wanted to leave. This is our first time here and definitely our last! The value for the special breakfast box was awful. The sausages were greasy and you have to pay extra for hash browns which really should have been included for the high price. Today, had an omelette very nice, then asked for a cheese & onion cob to take out, i checked it very sparce on the cheese & next to no onion as so fine, i asked for a bit more onion please? That'll be an extra 50p no! that's taking the micky! When they'd already charged £3.50, then the kid there say's oh! I'll close the door..seriously don't shout it just do it. I would never go there again over/priced n' he needs educating...

2016 This humble white-van-man cafe may look a bit circa 60's 'retro', but it is just amazing. Fab honest breakfasts - a good range to choose from, and a range of hearty lunches. Helpful staff and great prices. Plus the choice of daily papers. A must go and highly recommended. PS. I'm told the interior is being revamped late December 2016
