They went above and beyond to ensure that we had a memorable dining experience. One aspect that truly stood out was the incredible value for money. Given the quality of the food and service, the prices were remarkably reasonable. Read moreI’ve been following The Red Lion for some time now. After much deliberation, we decided to choose this place as our Saturday date night spot and it did not disappoint.
What I ordered:
Halloumi Fries - I was pleasantly surprised to see they had been fried in a panko breadcrumb like batter rather than the usual batter…they were incredible.
The chilli jam was also so yummy with a nice balance of hotness and sweetness. A good start to the meal!
Pie of the Day (Steak and Guinness) - since I am now a pie lover, any time I see it on a menu, it will be in my top three choices. It was between that, the double steak burger, or the chicken, bacon, and avo burger (all which I am sure are delicious).
Our waitress informed me that the pie of the day was Steak and Guinness, so I was instantly sold.
The pie was golden and so crispy with the most divine-tasting pastry. The steak was so tender and literally melted in my mouth. All of the flavours were bang on. The accompaniments of mashed potato, vegetables, and gravy made this a 10/10 meal for me.
Eton Mess - it’s very rare for me to have three courses but the rest of the food was so incredible that I had to see it what their desserts were like.
When served, I was nicely impressed by the “deconstructed” nature of the dish as it did not look like your typical Eton mess. I assumed it was served with ice cream to then realise it was a strawberry kind of cream but in fact, I think it was mascarpone as it had quite a tangy flavour.
It was a delicious dish, but I think a thicker, sweeter cream would compliment the dish more as it was way too tangy for me, and in the end could not finish it.
Overall: 10/10 ⭐️
I am so so happy that we visited The Red Lion last night.
The staff were all so friendly and I was gutted that I had no money on me to leave a tip (rookie error).
The food was incredible and the atmosphere was so calm and relaxing. We will definitely be coming back.
Thank you for a...
Read moreWe popped in here for two nights whilst visiting the area for the Victory Show. The pub has a very friendly atmosphere and we got speaking to a regular (Scotty). The beer was well kept and there was a good variety available. They show football on the TV in the one section of the pub. This was the main reason for choosing this place as my friends wanted to watch their teams play. I noticed they had a dart board, although we did not use it.
There is a good sized outdoor area available and a car park ample enough to find a space with ease.
On the second night we ordered food. We all had the pork belly and whilst it was nice; personally I felt it needed more seasoning and a touch more sauce. That being said, it was still very nice and obviously cooked fresh using fresh ingredients. Other food orders I saw being delivered to other customers looked very appetising.
If I was local, I would definitely visit this...
