Myself and 2 friends visited on Friday 24th for an evening meal. We were surprised to find that for being a Friday, the restaurant was fairly quiet. We ordered our food and a drink , but while waiting, we noticed that most other people seated at the tables had no food in front of them. We waited for an hour or so, still nothing , so one of the bar staff were asked by my friend about the delay. He was told that it would be at least another 10 mins, because there were still 2 tables in front if us to be served. We decided, that we would leave and go to another establishment. I understand that problems can occur, but if the staff had told us there was a delay, we would have understood, but to be left uninformed of the situation for so long was frankly quite disappointing. I dread to think of the time it would have taken if they were busy. When we complained, one of the bar staff was very apologetic and agreed it was unacceptable, the other did not appear to give much concern. We left, and will not go back. I will also not recommend a visit to any of my many colleagues and friends who live and work in the area. ...

Before I begin, there were no warnings of waiting times or being “short staffed” prior to ordering! All timings are approximate.

We were seated for an afternoon meal with my girls (whom I havnt spent any time with for months) at 1:15pm. We ordered drinks that were forgotten about and had to walk to bar ourselves to remind them, then the waitress poured them and left on end of bar and started serving others. 1:45pm We ordered simple starters which actually came out within 30 mins and were actually great. 2pm Then, after only ordering simple meals x4 adult and x2 children’s we then were made to wait 2 hours with several feeble excuses given. When the food eventually arrived it were barely warm and they completely missed off an adult meal and children’s meal (of whom is autistic) we all made the decision to leave to prevent another hour wait. 4pm On top of that, the x2 ”lasagnes” were barely traceable overcooked and would of fit comfortably inside a shot glass! Absolutely abysmal service and poor excuses. Not acceptable I’m afraid. Not even worth a star 🤷🏼‍♂️👎🏻👎🏻 call yourself an eatery 🙄🤣 I will...

Wow where do I start ! We first visited this place as a group of 22 one Xmas just after loosing mum The staff well talk about rude ! But the food was ok so two year later we decided to visit again ! Never again !! Table booked for two after asking we got starters at 3 , after asking again we got mains at 4 ! An yet again after asking again desserts we didn’t even eat just wayyyyy to long between service and NO they was not busy ( yet all other *regulars * around us was served upon seating 😂 Food was cold , gravy was like water when asked for thicker gravy got told it was already made ? Increased prices on items after booking in advance and deposit being taken plus still that price on the menu 😂 About 500/600 spent on this visit ! Staff well talk about customer service maybe go get some training in folk Messaged then directly before posting this review and this is the answer (HILARIOUS) Do not go unless of cause you already do ! 👍 My apologies but we have only just seen this. we are sorry you had a bad experience, we cant help the supplier changing the prices on...

Decided to go here for a meal out as we were bought some gift vouchers for Christmas. We were not disappointed! From the approach, the newly renovated outside was appealing and looked inviting. We had a reservation for 7.30 and got there early at 7.20. We were greeted by a friendly waitress who showed us straight to a table and asked if we wanted drinks. She kindly asked what we normally drink and told us what they had. The menu is quite small, but this is good, you know everything is cooked FRESH! We both chose the same meal, an 8oz rump steak cooked medium, and as you can see from the photo the meal was huge! Beautifully presented, with a side salad, crunchy onion rings and home cooked chips. The pepper sauce was to die for. Needless to say we didn't have a sweet as we were too full! I must say there wasn't anything I could fault, from the pleasant staff to the surroundings it was all really lovely and we will be paying another visit very soon. Well done to everyone for making a lovely team at the Boat Inn.

Our first visit to this really lovely pub. The food was delicious and very good value for money, good beer and cider on draught and friendly staff. We enjoyed a 2 course meal in the restaurant then moved to the comfy sofas near the fire for extra drinks. We were made to feel very welcome. I found this pub on searchforsites as we were heading south on the m1 in our motorhome, looking for somewhere to have dinner. I phoned ahead and booked a table and asked if we could stay in the car park overnight, we were told we could if there was space. We arrived an hour later and the car park was plenty big enough for our 7m motorhome tucked award in the far right hand corner. Very peaceful nights sleep helped I'm sure by the food and alcohol we enjoyed in the pub! Thank you to all at The Boat Inn, we will definitely visit again when in the area and post our review on searchforsites so other motorhomers can enjoy the hospitality.

Hidden gem of a pub I stumbled upon after taking my daughter to feed to ducks. Called in for a beer and a coffee, then returned the following day for Sunday lunch. Both days we were greeting by very friendly and happy staff. Lots of different food choices available including vegetarian and vegan options. Food was reasonably priced and was served within 40 minutes of ordering even with a full house. Safe to say this was one of the nicest pub lunches I've had to date, along with good quality beers on draught. I will definitely be returning. My only note is the pub may benefit from a website as I couldn't find any information for a menu without going in and looking at one, but that could be not looking properly.
