First time we’ve been in here for a while due to ill health. My Stepdaughter’s, my Wife’s Daughters bought us a Voucher for the Pub Company the Blundell is owned by so last Sunday we decided to go and spend it, knowing we’d have to pay extra but after a major health scare just before Christmas we really didn’t mind, we needed to get out. Knowing how busy this place can get, especially with it being a Sunday but also just as Half Term starts, we made sure we booked ahead. Service was great without being overbearing, something I really can’t abide as I believe there’s nothing worse than members of Staff interrupting your meal every 5 minutes or so to ask how the food is, usually when this happens the food, by now, is cold, thankfully this wasn’t and never has happened to us here. The food was spot on as usual, we had a starter of Salt & Pepper Squid to share, my wife had a Sunday Lunch whilst I opted for the Sea Bass and Baby Scallop Risotto. We shared a starter as I knew I’d want desert, even my wife, who isn’t really a desert person had one too, both opted for the Bakewell Tart with Custard and Raspberry Coulis, the latter I really don’t see the point off, especially when it was just a few dots of it on the plate, portion was a little small but otherwise it was lovely. My only real disappointment was when it came to the bill, I had my voucher card which I told the waitress there was £30 on, and also my Credit Card, she gave me the card machine to add a tip if wanted and what amount which I did, but then she just put the cost of the meal not my Card, without using the Voucher. I know the Voucher only covered a third of the total cost but that was the reason we went in the first place, yes we will go again, as I said previously, everything was great besides this last exchange where the young girl just took her eye off the ball, the only time she had done for us this visit, this could have been an embarrassing situation for some. Sorry, from the options below we only had the custard.

I've just re-visited the pub after their 1 million pound refurbishment and I'm sorry to say that its not changed much from my previous review below. I ordered the no leaf salad but was told there was no guacamole, I thought it was strange as I hadn't read that it was included on the menu, but as I don't care for it, I said that it didn't matter. The Asst. Manager, who told me this, said that she'd make it "more like a salad" for me. Again a strange thing to say as I was ordering a salad, but I trusted her and agreed. Unfortunately, the salad came with 3 ingredients missing, no hummus (the reason I'd ordered it), the mixed seeds and cibatta croutons. Rocket leaves had been substituted for the missing guacamole! Not a fair substitute I thought. When I queried the missing hummus I was told that I'd been told there was none, this was incorrect, I was told there was no guacamole which is completely different, in my view, from hummus. One is made from advocado the other chickpea's but in this instance it should have been edamam beans. I also queried the cauliflower, it was described as roasted with a sriacha sauce, however, it had simply been boiled, with a dribble of sauce ontop. To be fair, Amanda, who I complained to was excellent, she apologised and went to get me some more cauliflower, seeds and croutons, however, the new cauliflower was the same boiled cauliflower which then looked like it had been held over a flame to blacken one side of it and even less sauce. Very disappointing. Certainly not worth £12.99! My friend then asked for a Tia Maria coffee but was told there was no Tia Maria. Finally, I went to the toilet and went to wash my hands but there was no water!!! My hands were full of soap but no water to wash it off. I mentioned this to Amanda who told me that when it was busy, or cold the water pressure dropped, plus the pub is situated on a hill, so that doesn't help the pressure. This is a pub that has just spent 1 million and you cannot wash your hands! I was also told that they had no electic the week previous. We declined a dessert as we were so disappointed and we chose not to leave a tip, which I've never done before. I won't be going back any time soon. Pity. Lots of outdoor seating some under cover (if reserved prior)with fantastic views over Horwich, unfortunately the food is poor. I ordered the vegan beetroot burger but it was so hard I couldn't even bite into it. I told the waiter and he took it away with no quibble and asked if I wanted anything else so I then ordered mac 'n' cheese. Unfortunately although edible it tasted synthetic as though the cheese sauce was made from a packet ie. Dried constituted powder. Despite the poor food the service was excellent, full marks for the waiter who handled it very well, including my second complaint about the cheese sauce.

Our 1st experience at Blundell Arms. We went on Wednesday 6th Feb at 5.30pm. I had booked online in advance. Me & fella was due a date night (meal & pics). Wanted somewhere where both me & fella haven’t been before, but somewhere in easy reach to Vue Middlebrook to watch Glass. Took us 40 minutes to get Blundell Arms as we were travelling from Wigan in traffic. Arrived on time and was instantly shown to our seats which I assume was a manager and drinks was ordered right away. Service was quick and staff friendly. Food came out quick and both fella & myself enjoyed our meals: Hunters Chicken which was a good big portion of food & The Gourmet Burger from set evening menu. For dessert we had preordered the millionaire cheesecake. Yummy 😋. I decided to try a mocktail (pregnant designated driver). Decided on the Strawberry 🍓 Cranberry spritz which was gorgeous even the fella liked it. I had to take it back of him lol. Sarah was our main waitress and she was really on the ball. Very friendly. I’m sure I know her from somewhere but I can’t remember from where, which has been bugging me 😆. I’m from Morris Green (Bolton) so might have crossed paths with her somewhere over the years. But overall we had a really good enjoyable evening out. I would definitely recommend a visit . Noticed their valentines set menu is Available between the 11th-16th February at decent prices. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Jen & Jack from Abram

I Visited the Blundell today for a coffee and catch up with my Mum and I’m so glad I did! As soon as we walked in we were welcomed by the Manager, Matt and shown to an area we could sit as we had brought my dog along. I was very impressed by how clean, fresh and welcoming the pub felt. There was even treats for the dog and blankets! We had a lovely coffee made for us by Matt and when we had finished it, we decided to stop for lunch as the food looked delicious. We order from the lunch menu a steak sandwich and a chicken and bacon one. The food was lovely, the chef had done an excellent job at presentation and my steak was cooked spot on. We even got to say Thankyou to the Chef, Chris, as he had popped out front while we were eating. I gave him a high five for a fantastic steak and I think it made his day! Will definitely recommend to friends and family to come here, what a fantastic place to visit!

The Blundell is an institution around these parts, I've been eating here on and off for the last 30 odd years. Nice and spacious inside, it is a Green King restaurant, so set your expectations accordingly. The food was cooked properly and portions were decent. Steak pie in red wine was served with chips and veg carrot and cabbage. It was nice, but, its still in the back of your mind that when you eat in a chain its basically 'posh' ready meals. Dessert was Eton mess which was nice. Expensive for what it is, but the team here clearly have some pride in what they do and its still a pleasant experience eating here. Service is good and there were no long waits on what was a fairly busy evening.
