Ate here for the First Time with my Wife recently and we loved it so much we returned again on Sunday, We absolutely love Italian food and we have eaten at Italian restaurants Verona in Bury, Cotto in Whitefield, Porada in Whitefield, Italian Mia in Radcliffe, San Carlo in Manchester, Carmellos in Tottington and we have been to Rome and honestly La Roma is definitely up there as one of the best Italian restaurants we have ever eaten at.
It is set in a beautiful area, The exterior and interior are beautifully decorated, The service is fantastic, The food and drink is 5☆ and the setting is perfect.
On our First attempt to visit La Roma was a few weeks ago and we rang to book a table but unfortunately they had back to back bookings meaning we couldn't get a table which is always a good sign that a restaurant is really good.
So the other week we managed to book a table for Two and parked up outside the restaurant and headed inside, We were warmly greeted by a waitress who seated us in the restaurant, A few minutes later the waitress returned to take our drinks order I opted for a pint of Poretti and my Wife opted for a large glass of Red wine 🍷.
Drinks were well presented and went down a treat in the hot weather, My pint of Poretti was ice cold and crisp.
The waitress returned to take our order I went for the Minestrone soup and my Wife opted for the king Prawns, The food was well presented and my Wife absolutely loved her Prawns and my Minestrone soup was fresh, home made and tasted delicious.
For Mains my Wife wanted the rack of Lamb but unfortunately La Roma had sold out so she opted for the Beef stroganoff instead and I ordered Beef & Spinach Canneloni with a side order of skin on fries & onion rings, My Wife absolutely loved her Beef stroganoff the Mushrooms 🍄 and mustard gravy really complimented the Beef which literally melted in your mouth, My Canneloni was delicious, Home made, fresh and I cleaned my plate.
We then ordered another round of drinks and settled our bill and left, It was one of the best Italian meals we had ever had so last Sunday we decided to return to La Roma, We rang up to book a table for Two(I would recommend ringing ahead to make sure La Roma isn't fully booked), This time for starters my Wife ordered the King Prawns again and I opted for Chicken Liver pate which came with a side salad 🥗, Toasted bread and an onion chutney, My Wife again devoured her king Prawns and my Chicken Liver pate was amazing and the onion chutney really complimented the pate and toasted bread.
For Mains my Wife opted for The rack of Lamb which was served with baby new potatoes and seasonal vegetables and I opted for the Lasagna and I ordered a side order of Skin on fries, My Wife really enjoyed her rack of Lamb baby potatoes and her vegetables and I really enjoyed my Lasagna which was fresh, homemade and the herbs really complimented the meat and the sauce and I cleaned my plate.
Again the service was absolutely 5☆, The food, The drink, the setting and the whole experience was fantastic we highly recommend La Roma Italian restaurant.
5☆ 5☆ 5☆ 5☆

Read moreWe booked 12th June for my Sisters 60th birthday. She was so excited to bring her family here. She had done her research and been twice prior to ensure it was exactly what she wanted. She even chatted to a gentleman who wrote all of what she would like in the diary. To start on a positive the food was very good, no negative comments about the food at all. However, the service and overall experience was a huge disappointment. We arrived a little early and someone was at our table, no issues happy to wait until our booked time. This went over about 10 mins and the table had not been laid as my sister had discussed with them prior. The sharer platters that my sister had pre ordered for family whilst looking at the menu had to be requested several times and the wait for them took a while. We were offered complimentary bottles of wine due to this error, but not a great start. It took along time before our order to be taken for starters and an even longer time for the main to arrive at the table, we chased it up twice them my Sister whose birthday it was had to go and speak to someone who replied "it will be out when it is ready" missing the point I think that we had already been waiting for over 20 minutes. As a celebration party it was also disappointing that not once during our whole time of being seated were we asked if anymore drinks were needed or if everythjng was ok, nothing. We ended up going to the bar ourselves to get drinks. It was just all a very disappointing evening and my sister was upset as she had planned it all in advance with the restaurant, or so she thought. But obviously no one had read the diary prior to there shift to check and no hand over had been done. Good service is just as important as good food and our experience was tainted due to what we consider was bad service. Especially for a special...
Read moreI have been to La Roma every new years eve for the past 10 years at least. Normally there are no complaints about the service, food or presentation but this time I felt like the usual standards slipped slightly. It was a very busy evening as you can imagine but we were seated at our table straight away by Stef. Our order was taken for our wine and food a short time later. All of the starters were lovely apart from the baked aubergine with the skin being quite hard to chew considering it had been baked. I can recommend the smoked salmon and prawns. We then waited around 40 minutes for our main courses, the rigatoni Al forno although very tasty was somewhat overdone and dry and crispy on the top, one of the sirloins looked like an off cut and was curled up on the plate but was ok inside to be fair. The rack of lamb and seabass was nice though. The biggest disappointment with the main meals was the presentation of the vegetables, normally you get individual side dishes of veg with your meal but our veg was in a big pasta bowl and literally looked like the leftovers of a pan, all mixed together and literally thrown on the plate. It was not very hot either and ended up being left. We did not bother to mention it at the time so that we would not have to wait for fresh veg. The young waiter was a bit flustered and didn't know which steak was which so had to take back to the kitchen to check and come back out with the handwritten order in his hand also. Deserts and coffee went without a hitch apart from a 30 minute wait for the order to be taken, by this time the restaurant was almost empty. All in all a nice evening and we look forward to...
