Tolerates dogs rather than being dog friendly. I live local, been a few times and never had this issue but this visit was really disappointing. Arrived with dog, friend already seated, neither of us knew inside there's a dog Vs no dogs area so we're were asked to move (fine), before I even sat down the man barked at me to ensure my dog was out of the way so waiters didn't trip up on her (dog is a small bichon mix, on a lead) which I found quite abrupt and insinuated I had never been in a public place with her before (obviously I don't want her trodden on).

The icing on the cake was when I was enjoying my coffee, dog asleep on me (not on table) and the same man marched over as told me to put my dog down - no gentle explanation of why, it was completely unnecessary and rude. She was sleep doing absolutely no harm to anyone, yet he felt he had to disturb my breakfast like an absolute jobsworth. I felt like I was being monitored and was very uncomfortable.

It actually ended up ruining my breakfast, and I decided to speak to him after saying he made me feel uncomfortable, unwelcome and the way he spoke to me was abrupt and unnecessary. He did apologise but it's really left a mark on me, which is a shame because I live local and enjoyed going there.

I've seen other similar reviews so I know it's not me, and before the manager replies back saying there's rules written everywhere they need to be displayed better because I didn't see them anywhere. I understand not every dog behaves and owners responsible, but please teach your staff to speak to the paying guests like human beings and you may find you get a better response back. Manners...

Having spent a week in the area and having visited lots of small, family run business and having had amazing service we were excited about visiting Beachcomber on our last day.

Unfortunately we were meet by a rude wait staff member whom everything was a problem! We were a group of adults so not a massive group and it wasn't overly busy so not sure what the excuse was. Considering the amount that we paid for the food and drinks we didn't feel a couple of pieces of plain bread/toast was too much to ask for a member of the group who needed something small. We were happy to pay the amount of a normal sandwich. The answer was "No we don't do that and the owners won't allow it". Now granted if it had been a random request or something difficult I would have understood. Since they served sandwiches, freshly made surely the bread part without the filling would be possible.

Having asked at other, much smaller establishments over the week were nothing was a problem this seemed overly unhelpful.

The waiter then seemed put out and everything became a problem. We asked for table water, he put it on the order, only much later did someone else tell us we had to get it ourselves. The coffee arrived cold and incredibly weak.

I wouldn't recommend eating here there are many other wonderful restaurants in the area, the overpriced rudeness here is...

I can’t recommend the Beachcomber highly enough! Not only is it the ONLY place in Lytham St Annes that’s actually on the beach, the food is fabulous, the atmosphere relaxed and the welcome warm and friendly for families; for dogs too, perfect for dog walkers.

I’ve been for breakfast, lunch and Sunday lunch. The Eggs Benedict is perfect, my favourite, and the Sunday lunch just marvellous. Last Sunday we had a Prawn Cocktail/homemade Tomato & Basil soup; Beef/Pork/Chicken Roast Dinners followed by Sticky Toffee Pudding, all delicious. The roast is served with a platter of freshly cooked vegetables, all the relevant sauce accompaniments and an extra jug of gravy. I’m always asking for extra gravy so I love that touch.

The menu is restricted to a one, two or three course meal on Sundays, with about 3 options for each course, which means the small kitchen can concentrate on the quality and they succeed! For 1 course it’s £14.95, 2 courses £19.95, 3 courses £23.95, great value! There is always a veggie/vegan option too.

I really enjoyed the Sea Change wine as well, a lovely light Provence rosé. Do go, you won’t be disappointed. Just make sure you book as they are very busy!

PS: There’s a council owned Pay & Display car park next door, off Clifton Drive, called North Beach. There’s a wheelchair ramp up to the café and there...

Discovered this hidden gem of a café while walking on the beach, and had lunch here. It's virtually on the beach, in a brightly painted shed nestling behind some sand dunes and close to the North Beach Car Park. Great views of the seashore from the outside tables. Dogs are welcome inside, but there's a separate seating area for those who prefer not to eat with them. It's a sunny little café with bright and original decor, and lovely pictures on the walls. Loved the light fittings and decorations made of rope and driftwood! Very friendly, chatty and welcoming staff. The café is obviously popular with locals and was very busy, but service was quick and attentive. You can get alcoholic drinks here, and also some very traditional soft drinks (had a dandelion and burdock with ice). The menu offered a good choice of sandwiches, toasties and cooked meals, plus three specials. Had the scampi with fries, mushy peas, a tasty dressed salad and a pot of homemade tartare sauce. Excellent quality, piping hot and huge portions. Would have tried one of the delicious looking cakes on the counter, but I was too full! The meal was reasonably priced too. Was so glad I discovered this place! Will come again.

LIFE'S A BEACH... But this one is delicious yum yum. Head to the Beachcomber Café within the Wind sports centre on Clifton Drive assessed via North Beach carpark. It's open 7 days a week from 9am til 4pm and is dog friendly. You'll be pleasantly surprised as I was, this cafe sits on the beach amongst the dunes in a weather proof metal unit. Inside it's got a nice cosy interior with an outside space that runs the full length of the building. On the walls are artwork from local artists, the food is all home made in the kitchen and there's a bar at one end. I chose the South fried chicken wraps with cheese, salad and a BBQ sauce, fries and a garnish. For my liquid refreshment I had a refreshing Fentimans Mandarin and Seville Orange drink. Excellent food, excellent service and excellent location. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Great location. Service is non-existent, had to retrieve menus and request service. Was sat ignored for ages. A lot of staff milling about but not too attentive. Sadly sitting outside you are expected to pay the moment you order, seems so odd and alarming. Understandably there’s issues with people walking out and skipping on the bill but on this quiet day it felt uncomfortable and unpleasant. Especially paying for food that I’ve not had. Getting to the food, a sandwich that isn’t buttered is bleak. Cheap cheese. Sad salad. Not worth the money. Maybe just go for a drink, an alcoholic one and enjoy the location. Or just go elsewhere.
