Visited on a Wednesday evening for the pub quiz. Plenty of parking outside with a total of 5 disabled spaces. 3 at the front of the building, 2 at the side. Didn’t see any issues inside for anyone with mobility problems. They appear to have offers on their food most nights of the week. Wednesday is curry night. I ordered the Lamb Rogan Josh and went for the upgrade to get a larger portion. I also paid an extra 50 pence to upgrade my drink to a pint of San Miguel. Total price was £10.50. You find a table, take the number and order at the bar. Despite it being quite busy my order was quickly taken by a friendly member of staff. For that price I was not expecting much. Food only took about ten minutes to arrive. And, as I expected, it wasn’t the best. I would think most of the food was frozen, with some cooked in the microwave. My meal included chips; pilau rice; 2 poppadoms; a naan bread; 3 onion bhajis; mango chutney; a yoghurt and mint dip and of course the curry. The food was bland to say the least. Only the onion bhajis having any real taste to them. But when you consider a pint of San Miguel is over £5.00 a pint in most establishments then I had only paid just over a fiver for my meal. So it’s cheap and a good sized portion, just don’t expect top quality food. The venue itself was nice. The quiz went well and I would return for that but, if I was dining, I would definitely order something else.

Visited the Thatch & Thistle twice this week for meals while working in the area. We ordered on the Greene King app which worked a treat, was not in a rush so rather than stand at the bar - let us chat and chill while the drinks and food came to use when ready. On one day I had the steak with peppercorn sauce, and the other the chicken skewers mix with fries and side salad on peppers. Both meals served perfectly - and thoroughly enjoyed them. The guy who came and brought the order over was quick and friendly, service with a smile! Much appreciated. Only thing that leads to confusion, and hope I'm fine as kept the receipts anyway just in-case is all the signs warning about parking fines. Which I know it needs so we can park there, but the machine to register number plate was out of order on both days. The lady at the bar said it's okay - but does leave a bit of a dread to think if they post a fine anyway. Could do with it looking at, or a formal sign we can take a photo of just in-case the parking vultures come after us. This is the only point that took it down to 4* from what otherwise would be 5*.

I can't understand why this place was so busy....although that would explain my first niggle....the food took an eternity to arrive. When the food did arrive I thought I had picked up some sort of virus without my knowledge, that affects 2 important senses.....taste and smell!! There was neither!! The tastiest thing was the burnt peppers and onions on the skillet and if that steak was medium rare, then I'll be the heir to the king of Saudi's fortunes. I wouldn't like to see a well-done specimen!!......specimen being apt, with reference to the size of the steak!! There wasn't even any taste to the burger, except for the twice cremated rasher of bacon....well, at least I thought it was bacon....it could've been one of ghandi's flip flops for all I knew. All in all, poor. I wouldn't recommend eating there to anyone except my worst enemies, and funnily enough, my gf's ex was in there, so it explains a lot.

So went here recently and had a good experience food was lovely. However went again just recently and had to get a refund as the chicken was jellyfied in the middle and hard and crunchy round the edges and full of gristle. Now I know it's not the front of house staff fault as they was lovely and the girl was more than understanding when offering a refund. Also I can't fully blame the chef as he only orders what the owners/management tell him to order so this goes to the owners please if your going to buy cheaper cuts of meat atleast let the chef have an opinion of what he thinks is exceptable to cook and serve to the public because a man's crafts is only as good as his tools. Am disappointed that you charge £23 for something I can make 5x as better at home and am not even a chef. Again it's not the chefs fault up the price and get better meats and cook better as it tasted microwaved and I bet am 85% right that the majority of food is boiled in a bag or dinged in a microwave. Apart from that the staff was lovely and understanding but won't be coming back for food maybe just drinks. I will still give 4* because there is room for improvement. I will try again next year see what happens. Also please bring the chicken bombay bird burger to the menue I had that one time and it...

The food was okish 2 meals out of the 6 ordered were not bad at all the curry is terrible microwave meal at its worse the chips are pretty good the portion of peas is not worth having on the plate the scampi is poor special mixed grill was ok and the mix your own meal chicken skewers dirty rice etc was pretty good but the staff are very rude, I think during this time obviously visits are very impersonal as you order off the app but we stood waiting for someone to come an seat us for nearly 10 minutes (yes we pre booked) and the place was practically empty we were sat under a TV which was very loud we asked to turn it down twice pretty sure it actually went louder so we turned it off ourselves, no one asked if everything was OK alot on the menu was sold out, but one item ordered we paid for on the app an then they sent someone to tell us they don't have it i asked for a drink in replace of it and basically he just said no we can't substitute for something else I replied pretty sure you can an as he walked of he shouts back no we can't no further explanation nothing, we all were going to order desserts and more drinks but decided to leave.i would never eat here again, and that is more to do with the staff and the rudeness would actually prefer to go to...
