We were a group of 8 people out for Sunday lunch. A first visit for my partner and I. The pub has its own car park which is a bonus as the streets are a bit narrow. Walking in, we felt the atmosphere of a traditional pub, with a friendly personality. The service was great, we didn't have to wait to be served. When we were all there we went through to a quiet restaurant area and our orders were taken. We had a limited choice of roast dinners but sometimes it's better to have perfectly cooked and presented dishes than a huge variety. Our food came out pretty much together and was excellent. Fresh veg, roast potatoes and parsnips and Yorkshire puds. All hot and delicious. The desserts were fantastic. A good selection. Read moreOn the Wednesday we booked a table for 10 people for the Friday. When we arrived we were told by the bar staff that there was no booking!, but we could find a table. We ordered drinks and looked at the menu, we had been there about 15 minutes when we went to the bar to order our food, only to be told we couldn't order for another 20 minutes as the chefs were very busy upstairs. When our food did eventually arrive, it was very average. Ocean pie tasted like Tescos own make, chilli concarne was very dry ( with what appeared to be boil in the bag rice). Won't be going there...
Read moreSuperb little place. Having only moved here recently we have become regulars and have just had our grandsons christening here in the lovely function room at the back with over 40 guests. Excellent hot buffet, attentive staff and such good prices. We have seen weddings celebrations and funeral wakes here. All very well attended and being right next to the church makes for a great location. Definitely recommend....
