TODAY BLEW ME AWAY FOR THE FOLLOWING REASONS
Hubby got a lovely voucher for afternoon tea for 2 here at Stepping Stones in Garstang for his Christmas present from his boss (it's amazing) . Daughter has finished for half term so invited her and granddaughter .š im diabetic so my idea was that she could eat my half of all 3 tiers š and we could have some quality time .š. So phoned up restaurant to book. Afternoon tea for 2 and 1 diabetic. 'Don't worry chef will sort something' I expected a salad which I would have been more than happy with. What happened when I arrived almost moved me to tears.
The lady (married to the owner, her words) greeted me and showed us to our table overlooking the most gorgeous riverside, very picturesque.
She had gone online to get diabetic recipes so she could mirror an afternoon tea for me!!!!!
She had bought wholemeal bread for sandwiches, low fat spread, and filled them with egg and low fat mayo, tuna, ham and low fat cheese. Spinach quiche, humus and chili crisps, mixed fruit involving with Greek yoghurt. Cakes of many varieties including avocado and banana, apple pie, scone, chocolate cake, lemon drizzle cake, walnut cake. All made with sweetener, erythritol! And low fat. She had done all this for one afternoon tea....for me!!!
So if anyone is looking for somewhere beautiful to sit and enjoy an afternoon tea or a nice meal or just glass of wine looking out at lovely country views look no further. This place is highly recommended. They really do go the extra mile. Everything was...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis lovely restaurant, in a beautiful setting overlooking rural woodland and Scorton Village, with ample parking was a "saviour" as we searched for a venue for a funeral meal at the last minute, in these difficult days of limited bookings and social distancing. They willingly made every effort accommodate us, their welcome was exceptional and the service brilliant. The food was basic hotpot (but this was our fault as we'd only booked the day before, and they normally would be able to do a much more extensive menu) but it was heart warming and wholesome - just what we needed. The facilities are wholly accessible to people of limited abilities. We were unhurried and looked after really well, with unlimited coffee and tea from start to finish. I would thoroughly recommend this place for families in similar circumstances. And I would thoroughly recommend dropping in as a regular customer because I'm sure the ambience, atmosphere, quality food and excellent service would be just the same for individuals. In fact it is my intention to return in the near future to do just that. Highly recommended.
(No photos for this review as it was a funeral and photowork didn't seem...
Ā Ā Ā Read morePopped into Stepping Stones for lunch on a Saturday. Have never visited before and was looking for somewhere off the A6, near to Garstang. This is ideal, just a couple of minutes from the main road and with plenty of parking. It was quiet when we arrived and we received a warm welcome from the team. We started with a pot of tea, which was nice and strong. I had quiche of the day (vegetarian) with chips and salad and my companion had meat pie with chips and peas. We were tempted by the dessert menu and I had a delicious iced cinnamon bun with a scoop of ice cream and my friend had sticky toffee pudding. The staff were super friendly and chatted to us and were happy to adapt our meals to exactly what we wanted. The food was excellent and well presented and very tasty. The dining area is large, with a choice of different areas. The windows look out across the River Wyre, with Beacon Fell beyond and the railway running through (a bonus for train spotters!) There is some outdoor seating for use in summer. Will definitely return and...
