Well, what can I say. I've been dining here for many years and had a ot of family birthday meals in here. I wanted to see the new layout and it didn't dis appoint. However! The sevice, the price, the food was very disappointing. I wanted a hanging basket. I was informed they don't do them anymore even thou on the menu nor the flat bread. The staff members word were. 'we are having problems with the chef and he is refusing to do them!' wow! On a Sunday? After looking through the menu, I oped for the buttermilk chicken burger that was £14.45. With about 5 chips, no side salad, no nothing for nearly £15, I would of liked onion rings or at least something for that price. My dad who wanted the same was left as disappointed as me, so he opted for the full English to be told no black pudding? This is 330pm on a Sunday? Service to the table was quick but my goodness they took there time to clear the plates away.... So the big build up to pudding. The Marsh mill is know for the delious cakes and I had been looking forward to it all week. What has happened? 2 large cakes and a slice of mars attack.... Where have thoes beautiful cakes gone? Have they had a fall out with the local cake lady? Thank goodness it was the waffle cheese cake I wanted but not what the others wanted and after I had bigged up how great the display was, I felt alittle embrassed. But was still very nice.. Beers has gone up £4.55 per pint of crystal. So I guess its the customers that are paying for the refurb. I've got to say, after all these years of dinning there I will not be returning. We go out for Sunday dinner every Sunday wither that be with family or friends. A member of the party was also informed that all staff are in training.? I thought it had been open a while since the refurb why are they still in training? The girl behind the bar poured the wrong beer twice on our order and the barrel went twice? It was still packed at one point then dyed down. I had tryed calling to book a table but nobody answered the phone from 1130-130 after 4 at. I don't know what is going on but I hope they sort themselves out or all your regulars...
Read moreShame about the racism because the food was decent. I am mixed race and went to eat here with my husband, his sister and her husband. We have lived in Thornton a couple of years now but had never tried this particular pub. My husband and I walked in and stood waiting for attention. When we realised non was coming we went to the bar where we again were completely ignored. I’m talking several minutes trying to catch someones attention while people were served around us. My husband started to get irritated at this point so when the bar staff were about to ignore us again to serve someone else that had come in behind us, I had to point out that we were actually waiting to be served. We then had to stop someone to explain we had a table booked and could they show us to our table. We all ordered the carvery. My husband and sister in law had no problems with their service but when I went up with my brother in law the chef came out, saw I was first in the queue then blatantly ignored me and asked my bil what he would like. My bil had to point out that I was literally first in the queue and therefore should be served accordingly. We had our food and it was actually quite tasty but once we had all finished the waiter came to the table and took all the plates except mine, he literally just left it right there in front of me and never came back. At this point my husband wanted to start confronting people and making a scene. Normally I would ignore this kind of behaviour since I’m no stranger to being ignored in this manner, however the party I was with were very uncomfortable and pretty disgusted with my treatment. It was so blatant. I’m still upset, my husband is absolutely furious and my in laws are embarrassed and shocked. If the goal was to prevent us returning they have passed with...
Read moreCame here this afternoon for the first time, 2 of us had the carvery and what a disappointment the carvery was, it was almost unedible. First off there wasn't many veg options and they were very basic, the veg that was there tasted either frozen or was soggy. eg the Cauliflower was overcooked, soggy and watery and would have been better if it was Cauliflower cheese and had less cooking time, the mashed carrots tasted like microwave carrots that you get from the shop and were watery, the stuffing balls were hard and dry like they'd been left out for a while same with the Yorkshire puddings, The potatoes seemed like they were frozen aunt Bessie's roasts. The whole carvery was bland and tasteless even the gravy was a little bland. The best part of the meal was the mint sauce that probably came out of a jar. When asked if we enjoyed our food one of our table asked if the veg is frozen as it tasted like it was, the server then just said "no its fresh" and walked off in an a way that seemed liked he could not be bothered being there and was not interested in what we had to say or to help our service be better. We will definitely not returning or be having a carvery here again as it was terrible, and is definitely not worth the price, hospital food tasted better than the carvery...
