Its a shame when you just cant get decent honest to goodness home made pub grub anymore, no amount of refund can compensate for bad food...
I wish i would have read some of the comments on here already before deciding to dine here.
I cant fault the customer service, which is perhaps the only reason im giving any stars at all. That, and the beef burger I had was ok (even if the burger could have done with more seasoning in the meat)
However, the turkey roast dinners my father and niece had were just as bad as each other. Deli turkey, to which even the gentlemen I'm going to assume was the shift manager admitted only their beef and pork are prepared on site and carved. Why cant you get a good turkey crown also? š
My niece's dinner was swimming in gravy, where this would have been much better being served in a jug on the side.
My mother had the hunters chicken, and even she admitted this was the WORST she's ever had. The chicken was fake/not fresh chicken breast, and had what appeared to be a chunk of gammon rather than bacon on top. The sauce watered down.
Whats more the Greene King app wasn't up to date on what specials were available (a shame cause every other menu list on the app appeared to be).
I also wondered why they would only offer a vegetarian version of lasagne, and on a kids menu also when this is surely a pub classic? No adult version was offered on the menu.
Overall its truly a shame because had the food been proper this would have likely been one of our go to pubs for future vistis in the area, especially when many pubs now dont offer the same kind of customer service/hospitality you would expect (many could defo stand to learn a thing or two from this one)
Instead now we'll be adding it to the list of pubs to avoid....I'm sure the manager knew this would happen too considering he kept asking us to come back again...
I would advise management to seriously consider revising your menu, and stop relying so much on frozen imports....you dont even have to offer a large variety of food, just a few and make them from scratch. Master that and keep up with the good customer service and I'm sure it would make all the difference š š
Though I'm sure you probably won't listen, considering some of the generic written responses you've put on here already to similar comments spanning...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreA completely dissatifying visit to this establishment.
First of all, I would comment that drinks prices are exorbitant. Probably costing 20% more than a typical pub. Secondly, all five meals were served warm as opposed to hot. Something I personally find inexcusable, no matter what the establishment. The meat, including beef, pork and turkey, were of a deplorable standard and were of extremely poor quality, lacking in taste and texture and full of fat and/ or gristle. The roast potatoes were flaccid and tasteless; as was the Yorkshire pudding. All portions were small. Ironically, the 'Young Guests' portions were almost equal in size to those of the adult portions. Everyone shared the same opinion about the quality and presentation of their meals, so, this is not a singular complaint. The server of the meal rushed past and asked "is everything alright?", and before we had the opportunity to say no, he had promptly left the scene. I expect someone at least to look me in the eye when asked such a question and wait for feedback. When the plates were being cleared, I made a point to give our unanimous opinion of our meals, indicating what was left on the plates and why. The same server said we could have mentioned these issues when he passed by earlier NO apology was forthcoming from this individual. He removed himself from our table quite swiftly, saying that he " would speak to the chef". Whatever that meant we don't know because we didn't get any feedback regarding our complaints. I think he might have been too embarrassed Suffice to say, staff apoear to need customer service skills training. One more thing: receipts are not given or offered. You have to ask for them. How do you have proof of what you paid for otherwise? I suggest that staff ask after the transaction is carried out whether or not a receipt is required, in future, to every customer.
In summary, drinks are overpriced, and food is served just warm and with badly selected ingredients. I would certainly not recommend going for Sunday lunch here, or on any day of the week,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe arrived greeted fine and sat down . It was a while before being offered drinks and I had to ask for a drinks menu . We knew what we wanted to eat but as soon as I asked I was told they didn't have the trio roast and no turkey. So we had to order beef which we didn't really want . 10 mins later the waitress came over said sorry they sold the last 2 beef so all we could pick was a rib of beef or pork . The Rib was all we could pick as we didn't like pork it was more expensive as well so I wasn't best pleased. My daughter at this point wanted to go home . We got our meals my daughter loves parsnips but none were to be seen as advertised on the menu also they said it was maple roasted carrots they were just boiled carrots . And the roast potatoes as advertised with garlic and rosemary were definitely not that . Not once did the waitress ask if everything was OK. I then asked for puddings to be told 2 of them they didn't have and the coffee machine had apparently blown up so I couldn't even have that. I have to say I won't want to eat there again ii was a really depressing meal for a mothers day. I just can't believe you can't make sure to have enough stock in and make sure to tell people about the stuff you don't have as soon as they sit down. If it wasn't for mothers day I would of...
