Discovered this hidden gem by chance using Google maps. We we had an overnight stay at the Boston West Hotel nearby who, bizarrely, didn't serve breakfast!
Around 10 mins drive to this place down a narrow single track road, we were beginning to think we were being sent on a wild goose chase....then suddenly the welcome sight of the entrance appeared.
Nestled inside was the fishermen's rest, appropriately named, as the surroundings are a fisherman's dream. Lovely wood lodges on pristinely maintained site with exquisitely contoured hedges with several fishing lakes. I'm not a fisherman, but a stroll around the park has given food for thought!
Talking of food, the breakfast menu was certainly comprehensive with many varied choices and different sizes to cater for all appetites.
Our breakfast was served promptly by smiling & friendly staff. The food was well cooked and nicely presented on the plate.
The table and place on general was very clean and tidy, as were the toilets (i'm always suspicious when toilets aren't kept up to par, it reflects on attitudes to keeping kitchens clean too in my mind).
We had an enjoyable breakfast with a friendly & relaxed vibe.
Prices were kind on the wallet, representing value for money.
My only criticism is that we realised halfway through the meal that a hash brown was not present that should have been.... there was probably not sufficient space on the plate😄
Notwithstanding the focus on the fishing fraternity, there were many dog walkers spotted, so likely frequented by those and hikers too I would imagine, a great area for such pursuits.
Definitely a place to recommend and worthy of a visit by anyone looking for a value for money breakfast in lovely countryside...
Read moreMy breakfast was perfect in every way. Bacon crispy and succulent, the fat rendered perfectly so that it wasn’t chewy and gummy. Sausages perfectly caramelised all the way around while remaining soft and tender inside. My hash browns held a delirious crunch that only left me wanting more. Mushrooms were not slippery or slimy in the slightest, even a child would enjoy them. All in The Fisherman’s Rest has earned the title for best breakfast in Lincolnshire. If you want a quality full-English this is the place to come.
Unfortunately the American pancakes were quite uninspired, three pancakes smaller than palm size were cooked as good as they could ever be and came with warmed syrup which was a nice added touch. However, they are by no means American, they are tiny and flat - not allowing for the signature fluffy texture typically found in American style pancakes. For the price they cost I was very disappointed.
Besides that, my only real criticism is the menu, which was a piece of paper with names of dishes and little explanation to what they are. In addition there is a lot more to be desired in regards to choice. But my criticisms certainly don’t sway any interest of mine to return here, quite frankly I can’t wait...
Read moreMe and my partner were trying to find some nice breakfast pub with a view. Google suggested that The Fisherman
s Rest is exactly the place. Nice surroundings, close to Westwood Lakes and lodges, but in reality no special view. Nearby you have a park, were you can go for a walk after food, but none of this is visible nor through the windows nor from outside sitting area. We have ordered full English breakfast Big Catch and Baguette with Bacon and Salad. Portions are huge, Baguette comes with fries and additional salad, coleslaw. Food is tasty. Atmosphere is nice, just a bit dirty. Floor was full of food leftovers and tables wasn
t cleaned. We had a bit of the waiting time for food to be ready. On the whole nice place if you are not to bothered about surroundings. Good prices. Friendly staff. Loads of space for parking, entrance with access... Read more
